Winnie (Ryan) Altomare, age 78, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 after a short illness. Retired as a paralegal from Hawkins and Norris in Des Moines, IA. Member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Winnie was president of Iowa Chapter of the League Of Women Voters and chapter president of the Iowa Association of Legal Assistants (IALA). She was also president of the Hilary Rodham Clinton Fan Club, Iowa Chapter, a supporter of WOSU as well as an advocate for literacy. Preceded in death by her husband, John and her son, Kevin. Survived by her children, Kathleen (Thomas) Cunningham, John Jr. (Debi) Altomare, Brenda Altomare and Meaghan (Pearce) Eckert; grandchildren, Erin, Dan, JJ, Kevin and Angela; great-grandchildren, John John and Keegan. Friends may visit Tuesday, May 15th from 6-8 p.m. at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16th at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church 313 North State Street, Westerville. Fr. David E. Gwinner celebrant. Private interment.

She always looked so nice & made all of us laugh. May god give all of you strength during this difficult time.
