Richard George Sauerman, 82, of Westerville, died Thursday, March 20, 2014. Dick was born in Dayton and attended Fairmont High School in Kettering. Dick was a 1954 graduate of Otterbein College where he was a member of Zeta Phi Fraternity and the Football, Baseball and Golf teams. Dick started his career at Dayton Power & Light in 1954, and in 1973 he moved to Columbus and joined Westinghouse. In 1990 he joined the Electric Equipment Company as Director of Marketing until he retired in 1996. While living in Dayton he was a member of the Northmont Optimist, Foreman’s Club, and coached Little League Baseball. Dick loved playing golf and fishing, but mostly enjoyed his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Irma Sauerman and sister-in-law, Sue Haggerty. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis; son, Ronald; daughter, Melinda (Michael) Burwell; grandsons, James and Jeffrey Burwell and Ryan, Matthew and Derek Sauerman; niece, Christina (Ronald) Chaffin and nephew, Steve Haggerty; great nephews, Zachary Taylor and Jacob Chaffin. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 E. Schrock Rd., Westerville from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29th with services to follow at 3:00 p.m.
