Maurice A. “Maury” Cook, Jr.., 76, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at his residence in Feridean Commons in Westerville, OH. after a long battle with COPD. Born on July 14, 1940 in Fort Wayne, IN. and graduated from North Side H.S. Received a B.S. in Accounting from Wittenberg Univ. He was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Turkey from 1963 to 1967. He was married to Linda Sue Demorest on September 18, 1971 in Westerville, Ohio until she passed away from cancer on July 21, 1995. They were both members of Church of the Messiah in Westerville where Maury was the head usher and Linda the organist for several years. He joined his father in the candy brokerage business and was an Ambassador of the A.W.M.A. Candy Assn., won Outstanding Young Executive of the Year in 1981 for O.A.T.C.D and was inducted into the N.C.S.A. Candy Hall of Fame in 1995. Achieved Ambassador Status at Skyline Chili! In retirement Maury enjoyed boating and spending time with friends on Lake James in Angola, IN. and volunteering with the AARP tax program at the Westerville Senior Center preparing tax returns for seniors for many years. Preceeded in death by his parents Maurice A. Cook Sr. & Margaret L. Brudi. Surviving are his son Corey A. Cook, daughter Casey L. Cook and three grandchildren; sister, Marilyn C. Grush. Visitation will be held at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Friday, December 16, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. http://www.morelandfuneralhome.com Private Internment.
