Mary L. Hage, 67, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at her home in Westerville, Ohio with her family by her side. Mary was born in Huntington, West Virginia on August 14, 1948. Mary is Survived by her loving husband of forty-three years, Joe, her daughter Aimee Szcerbacki (Ryan, her “son”), brother James P. Murnin (He Cha), sisters-in-law; Susan Hage, Anne Wylie (Walter), Susan Hage, niece Kimberly Icenogle (Jeremy) and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis J. and Mary F. Murnin, brother Edward J. Murnin, brothers-in-law, Thomas R. Hage and Ralph E. Hage (Elizabeth). After graduating in 1970 from Marshall University with a B.A. in Elementary Education, Mary worked as an elementary school teacher. Following a move to Westerville, Ohio in 1973, Mary became a devoted employee of RWC, Inc. and held various positions within the company during her career. Mary was the lifelong excecutive chef of Mary’s Kitchen, a name she wore proudly. Anyone who dined with Mary in her kitchen enjoyed not only the food, but the humor and joyous spirit of their hostess. An avid gardener, Mary could be found enjoying her flowers in front of an evening fire in the summer kitchen at “the Compound” with Joe and her beloved Golden Retrievers, Hazel and Alice. Most of all, Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and friend. Anyone who had the honor of being in Mary’s company was drawn to her endearing spirit and love of life. She is loved by many and will be deeply missed by every life she touched. Friends may call Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Road Westerville, Ohio 43081. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 313 North State Street Westerville, Ohio 43082. Rev. Fr. David E. Gwinner, Celebrant. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
Contributions in Mary’s memory made be made to the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Central Ohio Chapter.
