On February 14, 2017, our Lord called home our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Madeline Alberta Mitchell Hupp, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends. She lit up every room with her infectious smile and outgoing personality. Madeline was born September 18, 1927 in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Herman and Mary Gills Mitchell. During her work life, she used her skills in accounting and collections to positively impact different employers over the years. Her fondest professional memories came from her years of employment at NIBCO Inc., in Columbus, Ohio where she retired in her late fifties. Her retirement years were devoted to her husband, her extensive family and friends as well as the several children she opened her home to for child care. Surviving, are her sons, Danny (Cindy) Hupp of Pittsburgh, PA and David (Debbie) Hupp of Heath, Ohio and her daughter Susan (Bob) Young of Pataskala, Ohio; loving grandmother of Don Hupp, Cathy (Mike) Brooks, Kristin (Jon) Couser, Randee (Gus) Hutras, Jeff Hupp, Jamey Hupp, Heather (Mike Rannebarger) Young, Stephanie Young, 18 great grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews.Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Paul Urban Hupp, her adored cousin and caregiver Mildred “Millie” Kuntz, sister, Deloris Mitchell Dunn, her brother, Herman Mitchell Jr. and her niece Sylvia Dunn Burchett. Madeline devoted nearly a decade to caring for her late husband through various illness. After his passing she enjoyed a full social calendar filled with friends playing cards, dominoes and Bunco. Her Friday night domino group was the highlight of her week for many recent years. She treasured celebrating the holidays and special occasions with family and friends. Those who knew her well were amazed that she never stopped entertaining in her home and stayed determined to live life to the fullest. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-7 p.m. , February 16, 2017 at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville. At 7 p.m. Thursday friends and family will hold a Memorial to Madeline’s life. A mass will be held February 17, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church in Westerville. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Zanesville, Ohio at a later date.

I will miss Maddie so much. We loved playing cards and laughing together. Also, I will miss her phone calls as she always inquired about my husband’s health and never failed to say I love you before hanging up the phone.

My heart is with all of Maddy’s family. She will be remembered as a wonderful lady who was full of life and love.
Being blessed to have Maddy as both a neighbor and friend, I was fortunate to share many wonderful times with her. She treated me like part of her family, always inviting me to the Hupp family events.
When I traveled Maddy would keep an eye on my house, gather my mail, water my plants and made sure everything was ok. Maddy is the reason that her daughter Susan and I became friends and are now like sisters.
The memories I have are wonderful and will never be forgotten. We all will miss Maddy but there is comfort in knowing she is with Our Lord. I have no doubt that she will continue to watch over her
family and friends…because that’s our Maddy!
