Katherine Annette Griffith, 92, passed away from all earthly cares January 1, 2018 at Knox Community Hospital. She was born June 16, 1925 to Charles A. and Ida Goodwin in Cedar Bluff, VA. She graduated from Richlands High School in 1943. Kathleen married Jack C. Griffith in 1945.To this union was born sons, Jack and Charles and daughter, Susan. The family moved from Castlewood, VA to Sparta, OH in 1950. Like for many others, this was the land of opportunity. Katherine had many friends and was a Christian lady. She was a very principled woman, not given to change. All of the grandchildren adored her and it was returned. She leaves a giant impression upon us all with many, many smiles mixed with a large portion of love. Katherine was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Jack in 1997; her parents, Charles “Jake” and Ida Goodwin; brothers, Robin and Arnold; sister, Elizabeth Baskell; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Griffith and many close friends. Survived by her sons, Jack and Charles (Ann) Griffith; daughter, Susan (Gary) Cover; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and seven nieces. The family would like to thank the personnel at Knox Community Hospital, especially the caring nurses in the I.C.U. department. Visitation will be held Friday, January 5th from 5-7 p.m. at JOHNSON-MELICK-MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 49 West Church Street, Centerburg where a service will be held Saturday, January 6th at 10:30 a.m. Elder Darvin Edwards officiating. I apologize for submitting too many times before. To jackie,Susan, and Charles we all here in cedar bluff are so sad for you all. Losing mom is so hard. Our mom was our rock as I know aunt Katherine was your rock. Our loss is heaven’s gain but the pain is still real. God bless and keep you all. Judy

Jack, Charles and Susan and family — our deepest sympathy for the passing of your mother. It’s been many years since I last saw her — but I DO remember her welcoming smile, soft voice and genuine caring for any friends of yours. She was a Grand Lady —
Sincerely,
Bruce and Peggy Alexander
