Joanne Blackburn

Joanne Hollander Blackburn, 65, died Monday morning, May 13th, 2013. She was born in Long Beach, CA on October 30th, 1947. She was the eldest of two sisters, Roxanne, born to Adolphonso and Florence Hollander. She was raised in Detroit, MI and was a graduate of Michigan State University. She is survived by her two sons Blair and Kyle Johnson, Kyle’s wife Amy, their daughter Vera, her sister, Roxanne Hollander, her daughter Megan Weese Ribbing, her husband Karl, and het two cats Bernie and Whitney. Joanne worked in the Life Insurance business for over thirty years and was a registered investment advisor. Her goal was not only to work with families on the redistribution of wealth, but to leave a legacy behind. Joanne was beautiful inside and out, extremely smart, philanthropic, insightful, forgiving, and caring. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, wife, and friend to all she met. She lived an enriched life and her life enriched others. Her life was sadly cut short due to a brain cancer known as G.B.M. She fought valiantly and without complaint. She is the strongest person I have ever met. She is loved more than she will ever know and will be sorely missed. Calling hours will be Monday, May 20th from 5 to 8pm at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, OH. Her ceremony will be held at The Mountain Air Country Club in Burnsville, NC on a later date to be determined.
