Betty Jane Sims
July 31, 1929 June 18, 2025

Betty Jane Sims, 95, passed away on June 18, 2025. She was born on July 31, 1929, and came of age during the Great Depression - a time that shaped her strength and resilience.

Betty shared 72 wonderful years with her loving husband, Bill, before his passing last year. She is survived by her son, Rick; her daughters, Linda Lamme, Sharon Sims, Gabrielle Henderson, and Kathi Thompson; and the entire Lowe family, who have always been a part of her family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Whitt, and her parents, Beulah and Orville Whitt.

She was a devoted stay-at-home mother until her youngest child entered high school. Over the years, she held a variety of jobs - including cashier, key punch operator, bank teller, laundromat attendant and finally data processor for the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Betty loved sewing, knitting, holiday baking, reading and playing games. As a young mother, she made many of her daughters' clothes by hand and taught them to sew. She made the best Christmas cookies ever!  She was unbeatable at Mexican Train Dominoes, winning nearly every game she played - whether online or around the dining room table.

She stayed young at heart all her life, with a sharp memory and an adventurous spirit. She checked off many bucket list items: snorkeling, parasailing, hot air ballooning, kayaking, cross- country road trips, living in Florida, and seeing the Rose Parade in person. Betty and Bill were passionate cruisers, traveling the world by ship and making unforgettable memories especially in her favorite places: Hawaii, Italy and the islands of the Caribbean.

Betty and Bill's love is honored at Franklin Park with a bench in their name. This is a place where they spent many years planting flowers and tending gardens as volunteers.

At her request, no memorial service will be held. Friends are invited to share condolences or memories with Linda, Rick, and Sharon at simzee23@gmail.com or by mail at 105 E. Ticonderoga Dr., Unit K, Westerville, OH 43081.

The Sims family extends their deepest thanks to the entire hospice team who cared for Betty especially her nurse, Tonia, social worker KaDai, massage therapist Sheila, and Dr. Sheppard. Their support brought comfort, dignity, and relief during her final year. The family will always be grateful for their compassion and professionalism.

The family invites friends to honor Betty's memory with a donation to Mt. Carmel Hospice, please go to donor.mountcarmelfoundation.org.

Betty will be deeply missed. Her quiet strength and lasting influence live on in her family.
We love you, Mom.
