ABBOTT
Sgt.George Kent Abbott, age 65, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on January 16, 2017. George succumbed after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. George, an only child, was born in Roanoke, Virginia on June 25, 1951. George was proud to serve the community as a police officer. He began his career with Blendon Township in 1975. In 1981 George went on to the City of Westerville where he was promoted to Detective and later to Sergeant. He retired in 2006. Predeceased by his parents, Jean Holcomb Abbott and Emory Mason Abbott. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Cheryl Lynn Dunbar and two daughters, Sheridan Hayley and Alexandra White. George was easy to live with. He said, I love you, every day to his family and gave his daughters the ability to openly express this sentiment. The family would like to thank several caregiving friends who helped us in the over ten years of Georges illness: Marianne Cupp, Marie and Jerry West, Shirley Hewitt, Tom and Sue Godfrey, John and Linda Bokros, his favorite nurse Amy Hardman, staff of Registered Nurses, Inc., Mt. Carmel Home Health care, and Mt. Carmel Hospice, especially Hannah and Dasha. The family will receive friends and family from 6-8 p.m. on January 20, 2017 at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville where the funeral service will be held on January 21 at 10:30 a.m.. followed by the committal at Blendon Township Cemetery. After the service the family will celebrate Georges life at Jimmy Vs,Uptown Westerville. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the National Parkinsons Foundation, Ohio Chapter.

Dear Cheryl,
Please accept my deepest sympathy. I know something of loss, and my heart goes out to you as you learn to walk through life without your dear partner. My prayers are that you will take comfort in knowing that George is in the loving arms of the Lord, in joy and peace, and that you will see him again one day, eternally.
Although it’s been years since we’ve seen each other, I still have many fond memories of happy times with George and you and the WPD group. George was one of the special ones and always had a big, warm smile…Such a good guy!
Take care of yourself, dear, and know you are in my prayers,
Cindy

To The Abbott Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss and wish to extend my condolences to the family. Death at any age and under any circumstances is a real enemy. Even God considers death to be our enemy and he has promised through his word the bible in Revelations chapter 21 verses 3 and 4 to eliminate death along with pain and sickness forever. The earthly resurrection that Jesus spoke about in John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29 which reads,” All those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out,” will soon take place and allow us the opportunity to welcome back all of our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death, to awaken on a paradise earth and to live forever upon it. Psalms 37 verse 29. What a happy time that will be. May these promises from the bible bring you a measure of comfort now and a real hope of seeing your loved one again.
Sincerely,
Sandy
