GILL
William Elmer Gill, age 96, of Westerville, OH passed away Monday, April 11, 2011. Born May 30, 1914 in Port Clinton, Ohio, son of William P. and Shirley Fawcett Gill. Graduate of Zanesfield Ohio High School, The Ohio State University and University of Wisconsin. Survived by children, Sandra Jeanne (Edward) Clark of Asheville, NC, Mary Anne (Tom) Asbury of West Chester, OH, David William (Toni) Gill of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Michael Clark, Deborah Close (Simon) Noakes, Brian Asbury, David R., Nicholas, Stephen and Taylor Gill; step-son, Mark (Carolyn Watkins) McGlone; grandsons, Douglas (Alissa) McGlone, Brett (Sarah) McGlone; great-granddaughters, Kaelyn and Kassidy McGlone; step-daughter, Jane (Quentin) Haines; granddaughter, Allison Haines; step-daughter-in-law, Christine Ulmer; grandchildren, Blake and Lindsey Ulmer. Preceded in death by parents, sister, Ellen (Leslie) Fritzlan, wives, Margaret Burkley Gill, Mary McGlone Gill and Ruth Ulmer Gill and daughter, Shirley Margaret (Gary) Close, step-son, David Ulmer. Worked as County Agent in Harrison and Guernsey counties and spent most of his career as an Extension Agricultural Engineer, Farm Machinery Specialist, at The Ohio State University. Member of Church of the Messiah United Methodist, Westerville Sertoma Club, Alpha Gamma Sigma, Epsilon Sigma Phi, The Ohio State University Presidents Club, Farm Science Review Hall of Fame September 19, 2000, Sunday School Superintendent for twenty years, volunteer in Stephen Ministry, Hospice Volunteer, spent three months assignment as consultant to the Punjab Agricultural University, Extension Agricultural Engineer in Ludhiana, India. Author of “Solving Sewing Machine Problems” Bulletin 599 The Ohio State University Cooperative Extension Service. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM June 4 at Church of the Messiah United Methodist, Westerville. Donations may be made to Church of the Messiah United Methodist or Odyssey Hospice.
