William F. Rankin, Jr.

William (Bill) Frederick Rankin, Jr. passed away on September 6, 2024 in Westerville, OH. Bill was born to Mary Florence and William Rankin on February 23, 1947 at The Brooklyn Navy Yard. Bill grew up in Orange, TX, Norfolk, VA, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Stony Point, N.Y. He graduated from Albertus Magnus High School, Bardonia, N.Y. He graduated from New York University (NYU) 1968 with a BS in Physics. Bill continued at NYU working towards his Master Degree. In 1969, Bill enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Army Security Agency (ASA). After serving three years in the army Bill attended Baruch College receiving a BS in Economics. He worked at Long Island Lighting as an Economist, then he attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison where he received his PHD in Economics. Bill worked many years for NERA in Los Angeles, CA as an economist. He enjoyed his time working for NERA and traveling the world. Bill's final years were spent living in Westerville, Ohio. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Mary Florence (Florence) and William (Bill) Rankin, as well as his brother Peter (Pete) Rankin. Bill is survived by his brothers; Edward (Dema) and Dennis (Charlene). Nieces and nephews; Jessica, Alison, Hunter and Eamon.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Moreland Funeral Home 55 E Schrock Rd, Westerville, OH 43081. Burial will be Monday, September 16, 2024 at the Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, OH. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Nature Conservancy https://www.nature.org/en-us/
