Wesley Norman Matthews, 87, of Westerville, OH passed away January 17, 2015. Born in Columbus, OH December 10, 1927 to Wesley and Arie (Legg) Matthews. A custom home builder until retirement in 1992. Graduate of Mifflin High School, class of 1946. Attended Defiance College and The Ohio State University. U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Played baseball in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. Norm was very active in sports, especially hunting and golf. He loved to play cards and tell stories. Survived by his wife Janet; son, Mark (Gail) Matthews; daughter, Marla (Kevin) Good; step-daughter, Carolyn (Jim Nagy) Veerjee; step-son, Dale DeLong; grandchildren, Shaun (Jennifer) Matthews, Michelle (Lee) Kanney, Omar Veerjee, Haley Good, Marlaina Good and Zane DeLong; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene (Tom) Hamilton; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Gay (Bartholow) Matthews; parents; sister, Geneva June; brothers, William and Stanley. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., Rev. David M. Redding, officiating. Interment Mifflin Cemetery.
