Wanda Elizabeth Vernon, of Centerburg formerly of Wellston, OH. Born February 16, 1936 in Tazwell County, Virginia. Graduated from Rio Grande College with a Masters Degree in Education. Retired school teacher from Wellston School System after more than 30 years of service. Member of Sparta United Methodist Church. Survived by her sister, Ruby (Earl) Roberts of Grass Lake, MI; brothers, John (Cheryl) Vernon of Arlington, VA and David Vernon of Centerburg; niece, Leslie Dubois; nephews, Eric and Brett (Jennifer) Roberts; great-niece, Kailey and great-nephew, Carson; special children, Lori Beeman and Jim Epley; aunt, Shirley (Ira) Herndon of Cedar Bluff, VA; uncle, Carter (Margie) Wells of Bristol, VA. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Virginia (Carter) Vernon. Friends may call at the JOHNSON-MELICK-MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 49 W. Church Street, Centerburg, Friday from 10 a.m.-12 noon followed by a service at 12 noon, Pastor Erin Porter, officiating. Interment Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
