VERNON
Virginia C. Vernon of Centerburg died October 4, 2011; born January 2, 1916 in Russell County, Virginia to Joseph and Maude (Boyd) Carter. Virginia was a teacher and was retired from Ranco, Inc. She is survived by four children,; Ruby (Earl) Roberts of Michigan, John (Cheryl) Vernon of Maryland, Wanda Vernon of Wellston, OH and David Vernon of Centerburg, OH. three grandchildren, Leslie, Eric and Brett, 2 step-grandchildren, Lori Beeman and Jim Epley. two great grandchildren Kailey and Carson; sister, Shirley (Artie) Herndon of Virginia and brother Carter (Margie) Wells of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husbands, George and William; her brother Joe (Ruth) Carter and several half brothers and sisters. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a wonderful friend. She was a member of Sparta United Methodist Church and a conscientious worker in the church. Visitation is scheduled at the JOHNSON-MELICK-MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 49 West Church Street Centerburg, Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. with service at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Pastor Larry Carnes. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
