Thomas "Neil" OBrien of Westerville Ohio, born to Thomas Joseph and Wilma Margret (nee' Reid) OBrien, passed away on April 1, 2026 at the age of 88. Neil was a graduate of Cambridge High School where he played football and he then attended Kent State University. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation where he worked as a photogramatrist (map maker). He was a long time member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He was an avid muskie fisherman, trap shooter, hunter and was a member of both the Ohio Huskie Muskie Club and Muskie, Inc. In the 1970s Neil was a successful sulky owner, trainer, driver. and won many races. In his last three years Neil was a beloved resident of Danbury Assisted Living in Westerville. He is preceded in death by his wife Doris (nee Browning); stepdaughter; Nicol Zimmerman, and his grandson Joseph Thomas O'Brien. He is survived by his stepson, Gregory Zimmerman (Linda) and his siblings Jerry OBrien (Pam), Mike O'Brien, Patty (Russ) Werner. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Service will be held at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, with visitation beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday April 11, 2026, followed by the Liturgy of the Word at 1 p.m., Rev. Fr. David E. Gwinner, presiding. A private burial will be at Blendon Central Cemetery in Westerville.
