I first met Ted more than a decade ago. My most fond memory of him was on a dealer incentive trip to Beijing in 2009, when he was kind enough to invite me to join his division team for a traditional Peking Duck dinner. I thought that the duck with beak and eyes still intact would be the most adventurous part of the meal… but by the end of dinner, I discovered that he had brought some “Chinese Street Food” with him to the restaurant, and he presented a handful of us with a dare to eat a skewered, deep fried scorpion. Most anyone who worked for Ted knows that it’s difficult to say no to him when he insists on something… so we all ate it (surprisingly, it really wasn’t all that bad). Time and again, on every one of those dealer trips, Ted demonstrated through his adventurous spirit that he had a true zest for life. He and Karen always loved signing up for the most physically challenging and adventurous excursions. While I’m sad that he’s gone, I can’t help but think that he went to his final resting place having created SO many great memories, and clearly having touched a multitude of people. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Karen, Ryan, and all of the Pederson family. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers and thoughts are with the Pederson family. I’ve known Ted for many years. The guidance he provided our business as well as the larger Kubota company is immeasurable. He will be missed by all Kubota dealers.
Greg and Teena Embury - Jan 6, 2016
Ted’s first advice to me was to not do anything to slow down Kubota because in 2001 it was running fast and fine. During the next 14 years he showed me how that was done. Ted and Teena spent many “weather check” times together around the world. We are so sad and grieve for this sudden loss of a friend and leader. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ted’s family.

Dear Karen
I was very shocked to hear that Ted had passed away suddenly. I have some acquaintances in KTC but Ted was special because I met him in 1991, almost 25years ago. As you know I stayed Columbus OH from 91 to 93. It was a very special period for me and my family with new experience. I spent much mora time with my wife and boys in OH than in Japan. Ted, Karen, and Ryan are strongly connected with my good memory in OH. Your family were so kind to us. Boys were young and cute, we were also young. Happy days!! I also enjoyed working with Ted from 2001 to 2004. I liked his jokes which were a little bit cynical.I have already retired and I knew that Ted was retiring in a few years. I was expecting that Nakko and I would see you both again in Japan or in USA. I do not know how to express my sad feeling and how to comfort you with my poor English. Even in Japanese it is impossible. Weare still expecting to see you near future.
Cinda McComas - Jan 5, 2016
Karen I am very sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. I pray you and your family feel comfort and peace in God’s promising love.

Thinking of the Pederson family during this difficult time. I was so saddened to hear about Ted’s passing. Ted was so down to earth and always so friendly and supportive of me and the HR team at Kubota! I had always heard about how beautiful the Northern Division office was (due to Ted’s creativity and decorating skills) but had no idea just how so until I visited (and from what I’ve heard, our new Corporate Office in TX will also reflect Ted’s sense of style and good taste due to his leadership on this project). I will miss bringing Ted his favorite treats from GA (boiled peanuts), seeing him and talking to him at Kubota meetings. Rest in peace Ted. You will be missed by your Kubota friends and family.
Steve Payn - Jan 4, 2016
As I sit in the corner office of the facility that Ted built watching the Kubota flag fly at half mast, I struggle to summarize all that I would like to say. Ted had the amazing ability to have his expectations just high enough they could not be reached, yet low enough we would do everything possible thinking we might get there. Ted’s ability to quickly read a person was unparalleled thus allowing him the uncanny ability to continuously build the bench for Kubota time and time again as ‘his’ people got promoted. He was instrumental in hiring a large number of Kubota employees (myself included)many of which are now in key positions using Ted’s mentoring every day. There is no way I could have ever thanked him enough for all he added to my life in the short 15 years he played a part. He was always there for me on both the personal and business front. I knew he always had my back. There are so many here at the Northern Division that admired and respected Ted as much more the a Division Manager. We are his Kubota family. We are his legacy. Rest in peace my friend, mentor and confidante. We will continue to strive to reach your expectations.
Skip Iwata - Jan 4, 2016
I am very sad to hear that sudden news.
Ted brought up many Kubota engineers including myself by giving his idea and passion.
I was always said by my boss to get feedback from him to have new product project completed successfully when I was a young engineer. Thanks to him, currently Kubota has many products well accepted in North America.
I’ll never forget him. Rest in peace Ted.

Ted,
It is a big surprise and shock to me to hear that you passed away suddenly.
You were the teacher of me for many things. You taught me how to drive smoking, taking coke and eating popcorn at the same time. You suggested me for re introduction of B7100 HSD when KTC was financially in big trouble. After re introduction of B7100 HSD KTC started to revive and successfully escaped bankruptcy that lead to current prosperity of KTC.
You were a big teacher and friend of mine.
Karen, I would like to offer my deepest condolences on passing away of Ted.

On behalf of all of us at Kubota Canada, we express our sadness and sympathy to the family on Ted’s passing; one that happened far too soon.
Being up in Canada, I did not have so many opportunities to cross paths with Ted, but remember fondly visiting with Ted at Northern Division, so many years ago.
But after reading all the tributes, it becomes pretty clear about the profound and positive influence that Ted has had on all the many KTC colleagues over the years.
Rest in Peace Ted.

I was very saddened at the news of Ted’s passing. Ted was always kind and considerate to me whenever we met and although I didn’t know Ted well, I certainly knew of his significant contributions to the culture and growth of Kubota Corp. and the high regard with which he was held by his colleagues. I’m sure this was true in his personal life as well. My sincere condolences go out to his family and his many friends.

Ted and I worked together for nine years. During that time we developed a great work relationship and friendship. In all my years in Human Resources I saw in Ted a special ability to develop and nurture talented employees in his organization. Many went on to be a part of the new leadership in Kubota. This can be attributed to Ted’s mentorship. I was saddened to learn of his passing since he was such a passionate and dedicated person who had much more to look forward to in his life. My sympathies go out to his family. It was a privilege to have worked with him.
Ben Hester - Jan 1, 2016
I started with Kubota in the Southeast Division, first in the Warehouse and then in the office as a Parts Specialist. Ted was an RSM in Kentucky at this time and I well remember many phone calls from him dealing with parts problems in his territory. He was always very friendly and professional. After becoming Parts Manager in the Northern Division, it was a thrill when Ted became Division Manager because he was already a friend from earlier days. Ted was a tough boss, but always fair and straight, a real mentor to me and was always very supportive of the people in our Department. Later on Ryan played soccer with the Blast club team as both of our girls did and he always asked about my family and their activities with real interest. I also will always remember with fondness the great heart and effort he and Karen put into the Christmas Party every year; I think of him a lot already at this time of year. I am deeply saddened at his passing and Amy and I are keeping your family in our thoughts at this most difficult time.

It is with sadness and great humility that I pay respect to a man who embodied the spirit of our Company. Mr. Pederson taught us all so much about striving for excellence, paying attention to detail, understanding our business, and always working toward continuous improvement. I am thankful for the legacy that he helped to build and for the way he inspired all of us to dig a little deeper and reach a little higher. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. May you have peace during this time of sorrow.
Dan Jones - Dec 31, 2015
Although I only worked with Ted for 5 1/2 years, he was a true friend, mentor and an important influence in my life. He embodied Kubota and taught me well about the Japanese culture and Kubota’s values, as well as, the business. He was a classy, wise professional who always made us better. His classy ways, fine taste for the good things in life and sound values were always evident when you visited the Northern Division. You did not dare eat in the conference rooms or forget to wear your booties in the warehouse. Feeding the Koi fish and viewing his plush personal bathroom were part of my first experiences at Northern. Sometimes during your journey in life you meet people who influence you in a special way, and Ted was one of these individuals. He was well respected by the entire Kubota family. He also loved his family very much and talked about them quite often at work, beaming with pride. My deepest sympathy goes out to Karen and the entire Pederson family on the loss of a true Southern gentleman and a class act. Please find peace in knowing that he touched many lives at Kubota and will live on in our hearts and through our actions as we continue to move Kubota forward, but never lose the values that were so important to him. I’m both happy and honored that our paths in life crossed.
Cheri Parker - Dec 31, 2015
I had the privilege to meet Ted 15 years ago when I joined the Kubota team. To see the passion he had for his family, his work and life in general was a true inspiration to many. Ted was always willing to offer support and words of encouragement we will all miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with the Pederson family.

I moved to Columbus in 1993 as a single parent who knew no one in a new city. Ted Pederson was there immediately to give me guidance and advice, both personally and professionally, that helped make the transition and acclimation to Columbus easier for me and my son. I can’t imagine how much more difficult this would have been without his friendship and support. Over the years, Ted has always been a caring friend that I could depend on and trust. He was always loyal to his friends and co-workers and always there when you needed advice, direction, or just needed someone to talk to. I have many fond memories of great times with Ted and will miss him immensely.

It is very sad to learn of Ted’s passing. When I joined Kubota in 1991 Ted was the first person to call welcoming me to the Kubota family. For 17 years we competed against each other, learned from each other, agreed and disagreed with each other, traveled with each other, laughed at and about each other, but most of all were best of friends. Ted would always have my back in in tough situations. Even though he would like to come across as a tough guy, he was really a teddy bear with a big heart. He loved his family and was a devoted Kubota employee. Carole and I will have Karen, Ryan, and family in our prayers as they travel through these different times. I have truly lost a good friend. RIP Ted!
Masato Yoshikawa - Dec 31, 2015
It is so sad to learn Ted passed. All of KTC employees, his friends, are in deep grief. I would like to express my sorrow on his death. Many people of Kubota Corporation, Japan including former KTC presidents shared the same and expressed their condolence to his families.
Mike Jacobson - Dec 31, 2015
It was truly an honor to not only work for Ted for almost 15 years but to have him as a friend. I always considered Ted as my mentor and knew I could count on his solid guidance in both business and personal affairs. He has touched so many people including my entire family. This is truly a sad time but we can all reflect back on the good times we had with Ted and smile. We had so many good times! Ted had a knack for making even the simplest actives an adventure and a lot of fun. I don’t think I have ever had more fun fishing with someone then I had with Ted. Above everything else Ted loved his family and often spoke about how proud he was. When he became a grandfather it went to a whole other level. The entire Pederson family are in my thoughts.
Brian Carter - Dec 31, 2015
Ted was the first Division Manager to welcome me to Kubota by inviting me to the Northern Division’s Sales Meeting. Despite getting stuck paying for dinner, I always appreciated him for the way he welcomed me into his world. Another example of his generosity took place at the Dealer Incentive Trip to Australia. My wife and I were not able to occupy our hotel room for 2 1/2 hours. During this time, Ted invited both of us to relax in his room as well as enjoy lunch with him. My wife and I will both miss him.
Stephen Barcuch - Dec 31, 2015
I only knew Ted for roughly 2 1/2 years but it was obvious the impact he had with Kubota. He had a presence that select people have. Ted was always approachable and never walked by without saying hello. My condolences to his family. Ted will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers to you all.
Leslie Louden - Dec 31, 2015
I enjoyed working with Ted, and was always impressed with his generosity and kindness. He was always so proud of his family and shared so many pictures and stories about the good times that they shared. I very much appreciate his great taste for the finer things in life and was honored to hear about his ideas on the new Corporate Office aesthetics – I will miss you Ted.

Please accept my condolences for your loss, in the 10 years that I have known Ted he has been a very kind and supportive man. He seem to put his people on a pedestal every chance he could. He was proud of his accomplishments here at the Northern Division and Kubota as a whole, a fine man,a fine friend, he will be missed.

Dear Karen and Ryan (and Brittany, Colton and Camden)
Leslie and I are deeply saddened by the loss of our life-long friend, Ted. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
I have fond memories of coaching our son’s basketball teams together, and attending Ryan and Brian’s sporting and school events from elementary school through college.
I was always impressed with Ted’s excellent public speaking abilities, having been invited to hear him speak at such occasions as the opening of Kubota’s Columbus facility and at Ryan’s wedding rehearsal dinner in Los Angeles.
It makes me smile thinking of Ted’s deep laugh and I will always cherish the fun times we spent together.
I am proud to have had Ted as my friend.

Todd Stucke - Dec 31, 2015
I had the great privilege of working with Ted the past three years and truly understand why he is a legend at Kubota. Ted was kind, passionate, and always understanding when helping me grasp the Kubota way. He was so proud of his family and always lit up when asked about his grandchildren. My condolences to Karen and family.
Tom Patterson - Dec 31, 2015
I owe Ted a lot for the career opportunity he provided me, but most importantly I want to send my condolences to his family. There was a genuine smile and excitement in his voice when he spoke of them. You could sense how proud he was to be a dad and a grandfather and how much he loved his family. He helped grow Kubota and his legacy will remain with the many employees he hired and taught. However, I’m confident he’s most proud of the legacy of Ryan and the grandkids. Rest in Peace Ted. You will be missed by many.
Ginny Shane - Dec 31, 2015

Matt Guentter - Dec 31, 2015
Ted treated me and my family like Gold. We are grateful for his care and friendship. Ted had a gift for attracting and surrounding himself with the best people, then guiding and encouraging them to be better yet. His high standards compelled those around him to strive for the same level of excellence, which drove him in all of his endeavors.

I am deeply shocked to hear of this sudden loss and would like to offer my deepest sympathy to the family. He was a great leader in Kubota. I will never forget him.
Dennis J. Wagner - Dec 30, 2015
I started at Kubota the same year Ted did. I have known him more than 30 years. My wife contracted Acute Leukemia in 2008. I told Ted and he said “do what you have to do for her”. “If your car is here I’ll know you are at the office, if not I know you need to be with her”.
Ted had some very special attributes. 1. He could sense when something was wrong. 2. He had what I consider vision into future planning for KTC. The last words he said to me when I retired was “I love you man” and I got a big hug from him. He was so proud of Karen and Ryan. Best boss I ever had. All I can say is “Ted, I love you too”. His passing is very hard to accept. Elaine and I owe him so much. Our sympathies to the entire Pederson Family. I will never forget him. God Bless.
Christopher Phipps - Dec 30, 2015
I worked with Ted for many years and had the pleasure of knowing him not only from a business side, but more importantly as a friend. Ted was the kindest person I have ever known. I will forever miss the times we had working together and getting to know one another from a personal standpoint. He constantly talked about his family and had the biggest smile every time we did so. My deepest condolences to the entire Pederson family. Ted was, and always will be, a friend and a mentor and I am so thankful I had the opportunity to know him for as long as I did. You will be missed but never forgotten my friend.

It is hard to even know what to write right now.
I am so grateful to have gotten to spend time with Ted both professionally and personally. My relationship with Ted started off on the professional side and gradually grew into a friendship with who I consider to be the real Ted Pederson. I will always remember his almost child like optimism and honesty. He was tough, but was also one of the most caring men I have ever known. He had a true heart of gold. I recently had the honor of enjoying an activity with Ted that is a passion for both of us. We went fishing. We had been trying to coordinate our schedules for the better part of two years to make this outing happen, and thankfully we did get to go and just hang out while fighting some striped and white bass. I feel extremely lucky that was the setting in which I last saw Ted. We had such a good time…. just two guys in a boat catching fish and laughing. I will never forget the hug goodbye or the last words of friendship that we spoke to each other. I will miss Ted very much. To Mrs. Pederson, and the Pederson family, my heartfelt condolences to all of you. I hope you know what a positive force Ted has been to those of us who were lucky enough to cross his path. Thank you for sharing him with us, and God bless you all.

I will miss you Ted more than words can express. You were a wonderful mentor, coach and most importantly a very dear friend that was a part of my family. You have one of the most kind and caring hearts of anyone I have ever known. What I love most about you is that you valued people and you fought for what you believed in. Every time I saw you, you always had a new video of Colton and Camden to share and the most precious of all was the beaming, proud smile on your face as I watched them with you. You will be missed terribly but never forgotten. My heart goes out to Karen, Ryan and the rest of the family. Hoping for peace for you during this terribly difficult time.
Masaru Kawazoe - Dec 30, 2015

It is my hope that someday I can provide the same degree of guidance and kindness to another and thereby keep Ted’s spirit with us for many years to come.

My deepest Condolences, Ted was a great friend & much like a business partner and a Mentor. We have had wonderful times on trips. Once my Daughter “Bonnie” & Karen were encouraged by Ted to try to scuba dive my Daughter Bonnie had never tried it before. I was so proud of both, they had the biggest smiles all from Ted’s encouraging them to go for it. I traveled with Ted in Italy and he choose the Red Ferrari we drove, the smiles on our face was forever in my mind. We hired a driver went to Siena, Italy on a day trip and went site seeing and wine tasting. The best day ever. He has made a mark on my life forever and will be greatly missed.

I saw Ted two weeks ago. Our last talk was about his family. I know that he loved Karen, Ryan and his grandchildren more than any words could ever convey.
Rest in peace, Ted.

I worked for Ted for 13 years. One of the best bosses I ever had. Good friend and good boss.
I have some fun pictures of him at work if you are interested. He was very proud of his team here and the facility that he built for Kubota.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Ted was one of the smartest and down to earth people I ever knew. His commitment to Kubota and his family was always an example to me. He was incredibly proud of his wife, Karen and his family. He spoke of them often and looked forward to retirement to spend more time with them.
Ted was instrumental in my success with Kubota and was a good friend. I will never forget him.
