Susan M. Vermeire, loving wife, mother and grandmother, age 55, of Westerville, Ohio passed away February 17, 2017. Graduate of Salem High School and Western Governors University. Susan began a career as a church organist at the age of 14 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Salem, Ohio. She continued as organist and choir director at churches in Columbus Ohio for many years, including Emmanuel Lutheran and Prince of Peace.
Susan also obtained her appraisal license and went on to start her own successful appraisal business, which she ran for over a decade. Later in life she went back to college to obtain her education degree and spent much of her time as a substitute teacher. Following her sons passion for the game of hockey, Susan did much to grow the game of hockey in Westerville by serving on the Westerville Warcats Hockey Association board. Susan developed a passion for the game of golf as a young girl and more recently was a member of York Golf Club where she and her husband enjoyed the game and great times with their golfing friends. Those lucky enough to have had a meal from Susan know that she was unmatched in her passion, love and talent for cooking. She would often cater events for family, friends, the Westerville Rowing Club, Younglife leaders, hockey and lacrosse teams and made delectable, creative dishes for parties with friends. Survived by husband, Daniel Vermeire; daughter Jillian Vermeire and her fiancé Egor Cravcenco; son Eric Vermeire and grandson Nikolai Cravcenco. Preceded in death by her parents, William and Janice Mathey, daughters, Stephanie and Samantha Vermeire. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Friday, February 24th from 6-8 p.m.. Service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 530 McNaughten Road, Columbus, OH 43213, Saturday, February 25th at 1 p.m. with visitation 1 hour before the service, Pastor Chris Eldridge, officiating. Private interment. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to La Leche League of Ohio (www.lllohio.org) or East Columbus Younglife (eastcolumbus.younglife.org).
