Sharon S. (Spitzer) Eastep (formerly Younger) of Las Vegas, NV passed away surrounded by family on December 8, 2025 at Avamere at Cheyenne after a brief journey with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. She was 87. Born in Newark, OH on April 16, 1938 to parents Walter and Julia Spitzer, Sharon attended Newark High School and eventually graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS in Education. She remained a lifelong Buckeye, and often regaled the family with stories of her train trip to the 1958 Rose Bowl.

In her life Sharon was quite the nomad, making homes in Garden Grove, CA, Red Lodge, MT, Harbor Island, SC, Columbus, OH (and surrounding communities), and finally in Las Vegas, NV. She continued practicing her teaching craft in many of these locations, including Bishop Watterson HS and Whitehall Yearling HS. She enjoyed sports and outdoor activities including walking the beach and collecting shells, hiking in the mountains with her beloved dog Mischa, snow skiing, and she even made a trip to the Olympics in Atlanta with daughter Jill. Mom also enjoyed the arts, and helped to expose her children and grandchildren to them. She liked to take them to performances of The Nutcracker and other ballets, concert performances, and to galleries and exhibits. In her final move to Las Vegas Mom relished the opportunity to spend time together with her family, particularly at the holidays, OSU football watch parties, and at pool gatherings. Visits to nearby Mt. Charleston reminded her of her days in Montana, and she was able to frolic in the snow even as age slowed her step.

Sharon is preceded death by her daughter Jill Diane Younger and brother-in-law Ronald “Ron” Jones, and parents Walter & Julia Spitzer. Survived by son Craig Younger and daughter-in-law Laura (Clark) Younger; grandchildren Allison, Shae, & Colin Younger; great-granddaughter Kennadee Younger, all of Las Vegas NV, and sister Cynthia “Cindy” Jones of New Bern NC.

Remembrance of life Thursday April 9, 10-11am, at Moreland Funeral Home in Westerville, followed by private interment at Union Cemetery. Donations in her memory to animal rescue organizations are welcome.
