Sam Glaviano, age 74, of Westerville, passed away at the James Cancer Hospital on May 26, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 5, 1949 in Butler, PA, to the late Sam and Irene (Maltagliati) Glaviano.

Sam was a graduate of Butler High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the Army ROTC. He went on to serve in the Army Reserves. Sam retired in 2017 after enjoying a long and successful career with Ketchum & Walton Co. as a Manufacturers Representative. He found special purpose in mentoring younger professionals and continued to do so well into his retirement years.

He was a former member of the Westerville Jaycees and past President of the Westerville Sunrise Rotary Club. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and found great peace and comfort by spending time in the adoration room these last couple of years.

Sam's life was filled with many interests including a love for travel, golf, daily walks with his dog Lucy, Bocce, his Italian heritage and music. Sam was the lead singer in his high school and college band. He had a great passion for music from a young age and it continued to be something he enjoyed throughout his life. Above all, he cherished spending time with his wife, daughter and the many friends he made over the years.

Sam will be deeply missed by his wife of 52 years, Chris; daughter, Sara (Nick) Smith; sister, Georgia Smith; in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and host of long-time friends. Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elle Smith and parents.

Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Tuesday. June 4th from 4-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 9633 E. State Route 37, Sunbury, OH, Wednesday, June 5th at 11 a.m.. Private family interment.

Sorry for your loss. I knew Sam through Rotary- he and I served together for an event. I always enjoyed his humor.

Chris, I saw in the paper that your husband has died. I'm so very sorry. I understand, as my husband just died this past January. I remember you so well from our visits with Cinda. I even remember that you drove a really sharp black car - can't think of the model just now. Peace, Chris.

Chris, my heart is really so very heavy at the loss of Sam. He will be missed by so many of us at Pilates. He was certainly a gentleman. I pray that God will wrap his arms around you, his precious daughter, and all who lived him to bring you peace as you celebrate his wonderful life.
