Russell Ray Stalnaker

Russell Ray Stalnaker, 72, passed away surrounded by his loving family and was welcomed into the presence of Jesus on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Born on November 14, 1952, in Akron, Ohio, Russell was raised in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He attended the University of Akron and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Russ met the love of his life, Susan, in 1973 and the two were married in March 1976. Russ is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years; his daughters, Angela Wilson (Jeff) and Alissa Snodgrass (Randy). He was the proud Papaw to Taylor and Joshua Wilson and Carson and Addison Snodgrass. He is also survived by his sister, Sandy Wilson (Dan), his brother Richard Stalnaker, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Patricia and Ronald Higbee as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Erma (Stephens) Stalnaker.

After three decades of dedicated service, Russ retired from the Columbus Police Department in 2011. In retirement, he and Susan enjoyed many happy years together, spending winters traveling to Florida and cruising as much as possible. He was also a dedicated and passionate Ohio State football fan, rooting on and cheering for his beloved Buckeyes all his life. Russ and Susan have been members of Westerville Christian Church since 1987.

Friends will be received at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E Schrock Rd, Westerville OH 43081, on Thursday September 18, 2025 from 5pm to 6:30pm with services to follow at 6:30pm. Interment will be held Friday September 19, 2025 at 2:00pm Scioto Burial Park-Cemetery at Rushtown  4757 McDermott Pond Creek Road McDermott, Ohio 45652.  A procession led by the Columbus Police Department Honor Guard will begin at 11:30am, lining up at Moreland Funeral Home.
