Ronald Duane Rudd of New Lexington Ohio died on Saturday, August 15.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Elsie, daughter Alice (Mike) Hickman and son Rick (Donna) Rudd. He is also survived by his sister Daine (Craig) Moses and Brothers Ray Rudd and George Deaton. Ronald (Papa) is survived by seven grandchildren (Tyler Rudd, Laura Rudd, Mackenzie (Clark) Egelston, Nick Moore, Ben Rudd, Caleb Hickman and Lizzy Moore) and three great-grandchildren (Natalie Egelston, Harper Egelston and Gavin Egelston).
Ronald was preceded in death by his mother Maxie (Fox) Deaton, father Carl Rudd, and brother Michael Deaton.
Ronald was a Staff Sergent in the U. S. Army. He served in the United States and Germany and was discharged with honor in 1967.
After serving in the Army, Ronald moved his family to Dayton Ohio where he worked for Chrysler. He then moved to New Lexington Ohio where he worked for Peabody Coal for 18 years. He and Elsie owned and ran the Sears Catalog store in New Lexington before he started his Heating and Cooling business (Air Unlimited).
Ronald was known and loved by many. He would often point out homes as we drove around the greater Perry County area where he installed furnaces and heat pumps. His commitment to service often meant heading out in the bitter cold of winter to fix a problem. He saw it as his duty to make sure people would stay warm.
Ronald will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, son, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
In lieu of flowers the family asked for you donations in Ronalds name to the ALzheimers Foundation or the Disabled American Veterans.
Graveside service will be held 12 Noon Friday at Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg, OH
