Dr. Robert Watts Mouk, age 83, of Westerville, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024 at Mt. Carmel St. Anns hospital after a lengthy battle with heart failure. God saw it in his mercy to call him to His home peacefully with his son, daughter and daughter-in-law at his side. We mourn with all whose loved ones were denied his peaceful passage.
Bob was born June 23, 1940 in Trenton, NJ. He lived all over the world, including Guam and attended Paris American High School in France. He received his BS in Chemistry at Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH, his MS from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH and his PhD from Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. Bob met his future wife Mary Lou at BGSU and they were married in 1965. He earned several patents for his work in solvated electron chemistry. Later in life he taught organic chemistry at Ohio State, Kenyon College & Columbus State Community College. He was a long time member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic church in Westerville. He was a loving and devoted husband, caring father, tender grandfather, brother-in-law, cousin and genuine friend to all.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise Mouk (McGraw), his parents, Robert McFarland Mouk and Mary Eleanor Watts and his brother Richard Mouk. His memory is cherished by his beloved son Robert (Vickie) Mouk of Plain City, OH; his pride and joy, daughter Laura Smith of Hilliard, OH; his precious grandsons Jordan Smith, Jared Smith and Robert Mouk Jr.; his sisters-in-law Carolyn Ann (Edward) DeSchuytner of New Hampshire, Jean Marie McGraw (Charles Lindsey) of Port Clinton, OH and Barbara Mouk of New York; nephews Brian (Maria) and Matthew (Summer) DeSchuytner and niece Julia Mouk; cousins Jane (Brad) Hanson & Marjory (John) Hopper as well as many other family members and long time friends.
Family and friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Monday, January 15, 2024 from 5-8pm. Funeral Service will be held at Moreland Tuesday January 16, 2024 at 10 am. Internment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Port Clinton, OH next to his cherished wife.
