Robert E. “Bob” Townsend, age 81, of Columbus, OH. Born in Worthington, OH December 1, 1933 and passed away at Kobacker House September 24, 2015. Retired from Meeker Sheet Metal Company as a sheet metal worker and air conditioning technician, and later from Westerville Golf Center. Member of York Lodge #563 F & AM, Aladdin Temple Shrine, York Golf Club and Aladdin Jesters. He was Asst. Director of Columbus Golf Assn.. U.S. Navy veteran. Bob was an avid golfer and loved to dance. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Stella E. Townsend; children, Cindy (Bill) Henson, Ed (Steve) Townsend and Cathy Bunting; step-son, John (Joan) Clellan; grandchldren, Justin (Erin) Hibbitt, Hayden and Tristen Townsend; beloved step-grandson, Lane Clellan; 2 great-grandchildren; special card playing buddy, Gary (Mary) Townley; aunts, Freda Townley and Dorothy Townley; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ruth Townsend and brother, Don. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m., Pastor Richard Westinghouse, officiating. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Columbus Alzheimers Assn. or Kobacker House.
