SGM (R) Robert L. Smith, age 76, of Columbus, OH. April 29, 2011 at Mt. Carmel Hospital East. Retired SGM Army. Member of The Ohio State University ROTC Alumni Assn.. Survived by son, BG Jefforey (Starla) Smith of Virginia; daughter, Cathy (Peter) Snowball of Utah; grandchildren, R. Jason (Kara) Smith, Lindsey Smith and Kiley Ann Snowball; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Stella Smith; sisters, Betty Smith, Pat Baughman, Sandy Smith and Jan (Andy) Smith; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Ann Smith, parents, Pearl and Grace Smith, brothers, William and George Smith. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Monday 6-8 p.m. where service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m.. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Scholarship Fund (#310157) to Honor SGM Robert and Georgia Smith; OSU Foundation, 1480 West Lane Avenue, Room 212, Columbus, OH 43221.

What a pleasant, warm man Bob was at the front desk of Plaza 3! He always made me feel welcomed at work. I will miss him very much! God Bless your family and I’m so sorry for your loss.

I’d like to express my sympathies to the Smith family. When I lost a dear friend of mine a few years ago, what helped me was Revelation 21:4. Its says “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more”. I hope this comforts you as much as it did me.
