Robert Schroder Lehman, Jr.
July 22, 1945 – February 11, 2026
It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Robert Schroder Lehman, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, coach, and lifelong sportsman.
Born on July 22, 1945, Robert graduated from Mifflin High School in 1963, where his love of athletics first took root. He went on to attend Otterbein University, graduating in 1968, and proudly played college football — an experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
Following a brief teaching career, Rob devoted his life to working at Roush Sporting Goods, faithfully serving the local high school and college sports communities he cared so deeply about.
His coaching career was marked by extraordinary achievement. He led teams to two state championships in two different sports — one in baseball and one in soccer — a rare and remarkable accomplishment that reflected his leadership, knowledge of the game, and unwavering belief in his players. To the young athletes he coached, he was more than a coach; he was a mentor, a motivator, and a steady presence who expected hard work and inspired confidence.
Above all else, Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, Patricia (DeMatteis) Lehman (August 26, 1945 – March 13, 2022). Their marriage was rooted in loyalty, partnership, and enduring love. After her passing in 2022, he carried her memory with him always. We take comfort in knowing they are reunited.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia; his parents, Jean and Robert S. Lehman Sr.; his sister, Cindy Little; his cherished grandchildren, Isaiah and Tarron McCarrel; and numerous cherished members of the DeMatteis and Coccia families.
He is survived by his children, Trey (Heather) Lehman and Tara (Todd) Dresnek; his special grandchildren, Olivia (Gavin) Hawk and Christian Lehman; his companion, Mary Alice Linden, who brought him comfort and friendship in recent years; his loyal and spoiled dog, Hattie; and the many family members, friends, former players, and colleagues whose lives he shaped.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio 43081.
In honor of his lifelong dedication to athletics and mentorship, the family invites those who wish to do so to support a local youth sports organization, attend a game, or cheer a little louder — just as Robert always did.
His legacy lives on in every field he stood on, every player he believed in, and every life he influenced.
Condolences

I am very sorry to hear about Mr Lehman’s passing. He was a teacher and coach of mine at Wehrle. I always respected and liked him. He was tough but fair. I had a great conversation with him a couple of years ago at a 1974 class lunch at Planks I really enjoyed talking to him. I will miss him and will keep you all in my prayers. He is someone I will never forget
