Robert L. Davis, 90, passed away peacefully December 5, 2022. Preceded in death by parents, Arlie and Della Davis; loving wife, Carolyn (Shreves); brother, James; sisters, Donna Maston, Carol Givens, and Ruth Poff; daughter, Vicki and son, Douglas. He is survived by daughter in law, Nancy Davis; grandchildren, Julie (Sean) Davis, Stephanie (Mark) Frisbey-Roll, Jonathan (Amber) Frisbey and Katie (Tony) Arata; great grandchildren, Maddie and Camryn Davis, Brady and Graham Eggers.

Bob married his high school sweetheart Carolyn on August 6, 1951 and they were married for 71 years until her recent death on November 2, 2022. Together, they were an incredible team who gave endless love and support to their family.

Bob retired from a long career at Battelle in 1995 and was involved in testing many important and fascinating inventions. He had a natural talent for being able to understand how things worked and was able to fix most anything, becoming the go to family handyman. Bob also was a huge supporter of The Ohio State University and was a Redcoat for any and all sporting events and worked at the OSU golf course for many years after retirement. He was not only an awesome golfer but a fantastic bowler as well!

He had the biggest heart for family, especially his grandchildren. He loved them dearly and often made arrangements for them to go to with him to OSU sporting events as well as taking turns going into work with him if he needed to check on the progress of a test in the Battelle lab. He was happy to play endless hours of football and basketball in the house using socks as a ball. Bob was a quiet man with the best smile, the best laugh, the most patience in teaching things to others, the best hair, and could deliver the best one-liners at just the right times!

A memorial service will be held at a later date with details to be posted on this website after the holidays.

Alan & Susan Hartter - Dec 9, 2022

There are no words for the legacy Bob has left on his family. He made a huge impact on Jon and Steph as I am sure he did for the other grandchildren. I was always appreciative of the role and influence both he and Carolyn had in their lives. Thinking of all of you and wishing you moments of peace and comfort as you remember your grandpa - “Bobby.”
