HICKMAN

Bob Hickman, “the Cookie Man,” passed away February 28 at age 77, after a long and determined fight to stay with his wife of 55 years, Blanche (Starner); his daughters/sons-in-law, Melissa & Dan Rapp and Patti & John Bockbrader; and perhaps most of all his grandsons, Matt and Jack. A graduate of Central High and longtime fixture in the Columbus grocery business, Bob was a successful distributor for Archway Cookies and a regional supervisor for Buckeye Potato Chips and Pepsi. After retirement, he became a passionate community activist and volunteer in Westerville. His treasured mother, Florence, taught him to love the Buckeyes and sports of all kinds; Bob most recently loved to cheer on his grandsons at PHA Prowler and WYHA Warriors hockey games. Our deep gratitude goes to our neighborhood family, who continue to look after Blanche, and the caregivers and clinicians affiliated with St. Ann’s and Riverside. The thoughtful, patient and high-quality care given by so many nurses, especially Kate at Riverside, and Drs. Zarraby, Christofides, Hinkle, Patel, Kennedy, Quinn and Grace gave him hope and help to the end. His twinkling eyes, ornery grin and loving heart are already missed. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Rd., Westerville, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7:30 p.m., Rev. Jim Wilson, officiating.

To the Family.
I am sorry for the lost of your family member and dear friend. I have an encouraging message that I would like to share with you from God’s Word the Bible.
Like many people we all want to live and enjoy life with the ones we have lost to this aged-old-enemy death. Sadly, though because of health issues, injustice, crimes and old age we have to suffer the pain when ones fall asleep in death.
In the Bible at John 5:28,29 Christ Jesus states that all those in the memorial tombs (graves) will hear his voice and come out. These ones according to Psalm 37:11 will be resurrected right here on the earth.
The Bible also gives us comfort and hope at Revelation 21:3-5 which assures us that the day is soon to come in which our Heavenly Father is going to wipe away the tears of sorrow from our eyes forever and death will be no more.

I hope that after reading this that it will be of comfort to each of you.
