December 9, 1954 - August 31, 2022
Visitation
Saturday, September 10th from 1-3 p.m. at Moreland Funeral Home
Robert (Bob) Eugene Heimann passed away comfortably in his sleep on the morning of August 31st, 2022, at the age of 67. Bob was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2022 but remained steadfast in his daily efforts to both educate himself on his illness and fight it to the best of his ability.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Donald, and Joyce and Joseph Palmer (stepfather). Bob is survived by his four children, Rachel, Michael, Sarah, and Mary, his partner, Karen, her daughter Cortney (partner Devon), and his many grandchildren. Bob was the oldest of six siblings, Ronald, Daniel, Richard, Marsha, Beverly, and Jo Ann.
Bob was born in Destin, Florida and was a graduate of Columbus South High School in Ohio. After completing high school, he attained an associate degree in civil engineering and two bachelor's degrees in finance and accounting. Bob worked as an accountant for the Ohio Department of Transportation until he retired in 2012.
Bob was a lover of knowledge, bragging about his children and grandchildren, and anything and everything to do with the outdoors. If he wasn't outside making upgrades to his home in the form of minor landscaping or an endeavor as grand as designing and building entire room-additions on his own, he would be walking several miles alongside his grandchildren, teaching them about everything from heavy machinery to geography. When he afforded himself downtime, he would devote most of it to dissecting books from myriad different authors and thinkers, all of which he insisted on reading at least two times in a row before moving on to the next. Above all, Bob relished any opportunity where he could help his loved ones improve their lives, and, ultimately, the lives of others, through the pursuit of higher education.
Friends and family may visit Saturday, September 10th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Bob's honor to The Columbus Foundation.

To the Heimans & the Palmers & to Karen & your families. There aren't enough words to say how sorry I am for what you are going thru. Hold tight to each other. And talk about how you feel, it truly does help. Losing a sibling is one of the worst things that happened to me. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm here for you if you need to talk. Love, Debbie
