Robert Ely Tener
October 3, 1940 – February 19, 2026
Robert Ely Tener, 85, passed away on February 19, 2026, following a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born on October 3, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Robert lived a life defined by devotion to his family, his friends, and his country.
After attending Ohio University from 1959 to 1963, Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He was a loving husband and father who cherished cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes. He brought joy to those around him, creating countless memories with friends over bridge, golf, bowling, and social gatherings. As a kind and deeply caring grandfather, Robert fully participated in the lives of his grandchildren, leaving a lasting imprint on their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. Tener Jr. and Ruth Ely Tener; his sister, Susan Voissem; and his brother-in-law, Norman Voissem. Robert’s legacy of love lives on through his devoted wife, Marilynn Tener; his son Bobby Tener, his spouse Abby, and their sons Joseph and Nicholas; and his son Sean Tener, his spouse Molly, and their sons Graydon and Garrett.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Moreland Funeral Home in Westerville, Ohio. Visitation hours will take place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a short memorial service for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Robert's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or locally to Changing Parkinson’s.
