Rita Ann Atwell, age 60, of Rich Hill Road Centerburg, went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 10, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Born June 2, 1950 in West Virginia to Junior & Beatrice Smith. Rita loved life and enjoyed her family and loved touching peoples’ lives. Her baby Raymond took care of Rita until her passing. Survived by mother, Beatrice Strickland of Rich Hill. Son Peanut Sweeney of Kentucky, daughters, Lisa Sweeney of Mt. Vernon, Bobbi Jo (Lonnie) Strickland of Mt. Vernon, baby son, Ray Altwell of Rich Hill, Ernie (Tami) Smith of Mt. Vernon, Johnny (Melissa) Smith of Apple Valley, Chuckie (Theresa) Strickland of Rich Hill. Sisters; Kimberly (Raymond)
Kirt of Mt.Gilead and Robin (Richard) Johnston of Mt. Liberty. 7 Grandchldren and 2 great grandchildren. Besides her father Junior Smith she was also preceded in death by her step-father, Kenneth Strickland, husband Ray Atwell, Sr., brother Mike Smith and sister Brenda Centers. Rita also had a special canine companion Spike of 5 years, whom stayed by Rita until the end.
