Raymond Harold Roten passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the age of 93. He was a loving husband, father, and poppy. He adored spending time with his grandkids, especially when it involved going fishing or riding the Go-Kart. He enjoyed watching Westerns, cutting grass, drinking coffee at the Waffle House, and making jokes in the barn. Raymonds spirit and love for his family and friends was unmatched, and he will be dearly missed.
Raymond was born in West Jefferson, North Carolina on March 17, 1930, to parents George and Artie Roten. Raymond was the youngest of 10, and he didnt have the opportunity for much formal education. He started working at the age of 12 in order to help take care of his family after his father had passed away. He was drafted to the Army and served in the Korean War.
While the Korean War Veteran was in the service, he met Lois Jereczek in Minnesota. They later married on January 16, 1954. Raymond and Lois then relocated to Ohio, where Raymond started working as a roofer. He later established his own business, Raymond Roten Roofing and Gutters in the 1960s. He was a successful businessman, and the company continued to thrive for over 30 years when he ultimately retired and turned it over to his son in 1996.
Raymond is survived by his wife Lois, of 69 years; daughter Bunny Roten-Craddick (Mark); son Ronald Roten (Carolyn) and grandchildren Mike Roten, Willie Day, Bryce Roten, and Leah Roten. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
There will be a military burial on Tuesday, May 2nd at 1:00pm at Kingwood Memorial Park 8230 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, Ohio. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation t2t.org
