Ralph Edwin West

Ralph Edwin West, 93, of Westerville, Ohio Died peacefully on November 15, 2023.

Ralph was born in Blue Rock, Ohio in 1930 to Dean and Georgia West. He attended Cumberland High School where he enjoyed math classes and playing basketball. After graduation, he joined The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea company where he had a successful career for 37 years. After his career at A&P he joined Victory Wholesale in Dayton Ohio from where he retired in 1995.

Soon after he started at A&P he met and married Lois Durant. They had two children, David and Kathryn, three grandchildren, Bryan, Brittany, and Stacie and two great-grandchildren Bryan and Dayana. After his career at A&P Ralph and Lois traveled extensively around the United States and abroad including Australia, Germany, England, Switzerland and Costa Rica.

He loved to work with his hands and took on many significant projects adding to and improving the homes where his family lived. These projects included building a garage, installing a patio area, with lighting and a net for some night basketball, a split rail fence and countless remodeling projects across several homes. These tasks were often accomplished with simple hand tools, hard work and his signature whistling. In addition to his own homes he frequently helped his children with improvements to theirs.

Preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Durant); his grandson, Bryan Waltz; sisters, Jesse, Edith and Dorothy and brothers, Delmer, Donald, Audley, and Kenny and is survived by brother, Bobby; children, David and Kathryn; granddaughters, Brittany and Stacie and great-grandchildren, Bryan and Dayana.

A memorial service will be held at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Friday, November 24th at 11 a.m.
