I am heartbroken to announce the death of my father-in-law, Philip Louis Amorose. He passed away peacefully of natural causes at the age of 86, surrounded by family. Phil was born on August 20th, 1936, to Clement Joseph Amorose and Lucille Augusta (Holtzman) Amorose in Columbus, Ohio. Phil was honorably discharged from the Army in 1965 where he served as a Medic. Phil was a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. He would tell the medical staff he could tell if "you could learn to dance by how you walk". He talked often of his time at the Columbus zoo where he served as a Herpetologist, his love for reptiles and snakes was happily shared with his grandson, nieces, and nephews. He retired from his position as head of the Columbus Health department, where he started as an investigator for dog bites and worked his way up to the top. He then went on to enjoy his retirement years as a snowbird with his wife Frances. Phil and Frances met in Columbus on New years at a party in 1965. Phil and his "Dear" had a long courtship followed by many years of marriage bliss. Phil enjoyed biking, the outdoors, or a day on the beach. His knowledge was bountiful, and he would share it if you but asked. As a Jack of all trades, he could fix just about anything. He was a generous kind soul with a wonderful sense of dry humor who will be missed greatly by his family. Phil was predeceased by his parents, Clement Amorose and Lucille Amorose. He is survived by his wife, Frances Amorose; stepson, Lincoln (Patricia) Trimmer and his 3 grandchildren, Rachel, Katlyn, and Luke; his brothers Clement (Eleanor) Amorose, Richard Amorose, David (Margery) Amorose, Anthony (Suzanne Walker) Amorose, Thomas (Victoria Adams) Amorose, and his sister Mary (Thomas) Rice and his nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank the entire staff of The Village at Westerville for their compassionate care during this difficult time. Funeral visitation hours will be held at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E Schrock Road, Westerville, OH 43081 on Tuesday, September 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. where service will be held on Wednesday September 28th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Columbus Zoo and support his love of animals at https://give.columbuszoo.org/wilds-commemorative-gift.
