Patricia "Patt" A. Snyder, 89 of Columbus, OH died peacefully December 14, 2023. Born January 29, 1934 in Wilkinsburg, PA (outside Pittsburgh) to the late Robert and Violet (Glover) Veitch. Patt was preceded in death by the "love of her life" and husband of 64 years, Jim who died in March, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Roberta (Jean) and Jack Reichert of Bonita Springs, FL; brother, Robert (Bobby) Veitch of Vancouver, WA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Russ Rebtoy of Reynoldsburg, OH; and niece, Cindy Toone of Columbus, OH. She is survived by daughter, Kimm (Tim) Vincent of Galena, OH and son, Doug Snyder of Grove City, OH; nieces, Diana (Mike-deceased) Golden of Columbus, OH; Christy (Steve) Egler of Mt. Gilead, OH; Carrie (Tim) Clayton of Pataskala, OH; and Cheri (Marc) Kamer of Clintonville, OH. She lovingly referred to each niece individually as her "favorite" niece. Patt also leaves behind many cousins, great- and great-great- nieces/nephews and friends, all of whom now have another guardian angel ... albeit a feisty one!
A graduate of South High School in 1951, Patt retired from Huntington Bank in 1994 after 34 years of service. Back in the day, she was a pioneer as a woman in bank management and opened several new branches in Columbus, Gahanna and Grove City.
Patt and Jim enjoyed traveling across the U.S. in their motorhome and on their Gold Wing motorcycle visiting national parks, beaches, family and friends from coast to coast. As a nature enthusiast, she was always up for a drive in the country or to Old Man's Cave. She loved all creatures large and small ... from birds and butterflies to elephants and tigers, and especially their many dogs and cats over the years. Patt also enjoyed spending time with her extended family, attending South High School reunions, USS Hornet (U.S. Navy) reunions, luncheons with Huntington retirees and, of course, the Columbus Zoo and Ohio State Buckeyes.
During her recent stay, Patt was shown exceptional kindness, care and support from the entire staff at Smith's Mill Health Center and Mount Carmel Hospice. A special thank you also goes out to her neighbors that prepared meals, offered an open invitation to "The Café" for coffee and dessert, and kept an eye on her after Jim died.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Mount Carmel Hospice, the Columbus Zoo or your local Humane Society in Patt's memory.
A Celebration of Life and private interment will be held at a later date.
Condolences
