REEVES

Mrs. Pat Reeves, age 87, of Granville, formerly of Westerville and Upper Arlington, died in her home at The Kendal, on Tuesday August 2, 2011. Mrs. Reeves received her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Michigan State College in 1946 and her Master’s Degree in from Iowa State College in 1948. She was a member of Omicron Nu, National Home Economics Honorary. After receiving her degree, she worked as a Research Associate and Child Nutritionist at Iowa State. After marrying her husband Roy F. Reeves, on March 17, 1951, she became a full-time homemaker for more than 20 years, raising five active children. When she returned to the workforce, she was employed as an administrator in the Long Term Care Division of Medicaid for the State of Ohio. She retired from there in 1988. Throughout her life, Pat devoted most of her time and energy to her children and grandchildren, whom she adored. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed traveling, exploring the arts, and gardening. She was also an avid reader. One of her great loves was finding the right pair of shoes to go with an outfit. In retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at The Otterbein College Thrift Shop in Westerville which raises funds for college scholarships. She participated actively in many programs in her community The Kendal at Granville, including the Library Committee and the Entertainment Committee, as well writing for the newsletter. She is one of the founding members of the community and was involved in many other activities. Everyone who met her was touched by her energetic, positive spirit and caring nature. She is survived by her loving children, James A (Ronda) of Westerville, Terrence N. (Kay) of Grandview Heights, Sandra H. (Daniel) Bondelier of Maumee, OH and Timothy A. (Kim) of Westerville; daughter-in-law, Hiroko Reeves of Torrance, CA; 16 grand-children and 1 great-granddaughter; 1 great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Dr. Roy F Reeves, sister in law Ruth Sittler, son Dennis R. Reeves and grandsons, Neal Reeves and Brody Bondelier. Her life will be celebrated with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday August 6th at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Shrock Road in Westerville. Visitation will be held from 12-2pm. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions in her memory to the Otterbein College Thrift Shop, 177 West Park Street, Westerville, Ohio 43081 or to the Pat Reeves Memorial Fund, established for the education of her grandchildren, care of Huntington National Bank. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at Grant Hospital ICU and all the nurses from Hospice of Central Ohio for their loving care. And also to the wonderful staff and residents of The Kendal at Granville for creating such a lovely welcoming home.
