Norman D. Malcosky, 86, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Born to the late Joseph and Marie (Duden) Malcosky on November 19, 1939 in Paterson, New Jersey. Norm was a 1957 graduate of Hudson High School where he met the love of his life, Janith K. (Row) Malcosky, who survives to mourn his passing. They shared a marriage that lasted 65 years, and began on January 28 th , 1961.
Norm attended The Ohio State University and graduated in 1964 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then went on to serve as Senior Scientist in Research and Development at Columbia Gas for 32 years. At Columbia he led the offshore exploration on the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico in discovering offshore oil and gas deposits. He also developed the first ever natural-gas-powered transit bus. In 1991, after leaving Columbia Gas, he worked for Battelle for 14 years and worked in Alternative Fuels for the remainder of his career.
When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family at their Lake house on Lake Erie. When not enjoying a beautiful day sitting on the deck, looking at the water, you would find him working on a boat, and occasionally putting them on water for a little fishing. When not at the lake he was a faithful member of Church of the Messiah UMC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joeph and sister-in-law Karen. He is survived by his wife Jan, their two children, Jennifer (Tom) Terry, Rev. Michael (Pamela) and five grandsons, Aidan & Cade Terry, and Seth, Elijah, Ethan Malcosky. Also, his sister Marilyn, several nieces and nephews and by many wonderful lifelong friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 19 th from 2:00pm till 4:00pm with services at 4:00pm at Church of the Messiah, 51 North State Street, Westerville, Ohio 43081 Rev.
