Matthew Traver Baer, 48, of Westerville, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on September 22 in Washington Court House. He is survived by his loving and loved wife Abbey Baer, his adored son Eli, his grandmother Bert Traver (Glover, VT), parents Bill and Peg Baer (Columbus), parents-in-law Barbie and Norm Nolder (Westerville), brother Adam (Dana) and their children Charlie and Bryson (Fairfield CT), brother-in-law Kipp Nolder (Toni) and their children Hallie and Alex (Colorado) and Kyle (California). In addition to his immediate family, survivors include Martha and Peter Nesin (Belfast, ME) and children Katy Day (Belfast, ME) and Jesse Day (Greensboro, NC), Jean and Jerry Bohan (Dublin) and son Michael (Columbus), Ellen and Rod Duncan (Venice, FL) and son Austin, Scott Baer and Beth Baer, Monika Baer and her children Petra, Angie, Krista and Jason (Columbus). And many other relatives and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Louis and Janet Baer (Washington CH), and grandfather Alfred Matthew Traver (Glover, VT), aunt Beverly Baer (Columbus) and uncle Tom Baer (Columbus) and cousin Andre Baer.

Matt was a unique and outgoing guy. He worked at Roush Honda and loved his job and his colleagues. If you ever had your car serviced there, Matt was sure to check that all went well. He was a proud Marine and made many lasting friendships from his years in the service. He had many interests and could talk to anyone about anything. He especially loved grilling out and talking about food. His 9 Weber grills and smoker attest to this love. His favorite happy place was Cedarhurst where he would visit the cabin and spend time with his cousins and friends, at the pool or campfire or hunting for snipes and other creatures. He loved being around people, bringing laughter to anyone he encountered.

There will be a celebration of his life at the Unity Church in Delaware, 4277 Columbus Pike, Delaware on Sunday, October 1st at 2 pm. Immediately following the celebration will be an informal gathering with refreshments, at the church.

Contributions can be made to the Semper Fi Fund (https://thefund.org/) or your preferred charity.

A special thanks to Nathan and Kindra VanHoose of Grove City who diligently and tirelessly attempted to revive Matt, and to the Fayette County Life Squad and Fayette County Hospital for their care.

The family would like to thank the many friends and family who have reached out and offered their prayers, support and love. Matt will be dearly missed by all of us.
