Burial

Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery

Fully supported by the sacraments of the Catholic Church and her loving family, Joan Bogner passed on December 29, 2024, fittingly the Feast Day of the Most Holy Family. Mary Joan was born to Leonard and Agnes (Miller) Walliser on April 6, 1928, in Attica, Ohio where she spent the first 44 years of her life. She married Paul Bogner on September 4, 1954 and brought their four children into this world. In 1972 Paul and she moved their family to Westerville, Ohio where she resided at the time of her death. Together they set the example for keeping Jesus as the center of all things in and outside the home.

Joan gave freely of her love to all and spent her life giving of her time, talent and treasure to her family, church, friends, and missions. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and shared these talents completing hundreds of dresses for the little girls in South America and living the corporal works of mercy through preparing funeral meals for grieving families of her parish, Church of the Resurrection, New Albany. For years she reverently cleansed and ironed the linens for the church altar saying, "I am setting the table for our Lord".

Her three favorite words of advice were kindly, gently, softly. Her most treasured days were those surrounded by family. She was the rock to which they anchored.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul; brothers and sister-in-law Richard (Arlene) and Harold; sisters and brother-in-law Doris (Charles) Kaple and Phyllis; brothers in law and sisters in law Earl (Helen), Helen (Delford) Ellis, Harold (Avis), Thomas (Bess), Robert, James (Nancy), Carl, Donald (Miriam) Bogner.

She will be missed dearly by her four children: Patricia (John) Massey, Rebecca (George) Rebitski, Steven and Laura; grandchildren Sarah (Julian) Perler, Rachel (Alex) Gaboric, Lauren and Kelsey Bogner, and Robert, Joanna and Paul Rebitski; great grandchildren Anderson, Grace and Claire Perler and Johnathan Gaboric; brothers and sisters in law Gerald (Ernestine) and Kenneth (Victoria) and sisters in law Betty Walliser, Peggy Bogner and Yvonne Bogner as well as many nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin Granville Road, New Albany, OH. Where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. in the Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, 269 N Seneca Street , Attica, OH 44807. After the burial at the cemetery there will be cookies and coffee at Our Lady of Hope Church 320 Stump Pike Road, Attica Ohio

Dear Bogner Family, I was so very sorry to see your mom’s obituary. Our mom, Louise, worked with your mom at TG&Y in Westerville for many years and they continued their friendship even after retirement. Our mom just loved your mom and we thank your mom for her wonderful and heartfelt friendship with mom. Your mom was a wonderful and sweet lady. I was so happy to see her at mom’s funeral as I know it would have meant a lot to our mom. We are so very sorry for your loss but it gives us comfort knowing those two good friends are now reunited and probably sewing up a storm.
