Mary E. Forney, age 97, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Feridean Commons, Westerville, OH. She was born Marry Ellen Rickenbacher, daughter of Nellie and Karl Rickenbacher on Februry 15, 1918 in Wyandot County, OH. Mary graduated from Forest High School and attended Lima Business College. She retired from IRD Balancing of Worthington, OH, was a member of Central College Presbyterian Church, and her beloved Sundury Road Needle Club. She enjoyed her wonderful neighbors, gardening, sewing, quilting and all forms of needlework. She was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years Everett H. Forney on March 12, 2000; brothers, sisters and their (spouses); Harold (Faye) Rickenbacher and Robert (Marjorie) Rickenbacher, Gertrude Price and Virginia (Warren) Heckathorne. She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law Paul Quail, sister-in-law Clarice Knappenberger, daughter-in-law Lee Forney and grandsons Brett and Scott Forney. Mary is survived by her daughter Carol (Gary) Shortslef of Manlius, NY and son Edward Forney of Columbus, OH; grandchildren Kristin (Ryan) Kelley of Mount Laurel, NJ and Kaitlyn Forney of Marysville, OH; great grandchildren David and Benjamin Kelly, sister-in-law Helen Quail and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road Westerville, 6-8 p.m. Monday. Graveside service and burial will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday August 11, 2015 at Burnside Cemetery, South Old 3C Highway, Genoa Township.
