Mary Joan Baker, age 90, of New Albany, Ohio, peacefully went to be with the Lord on October 15, 2017. Attended St. Joseph Academy. Graduate of The Ohio State University. Mary taught school from 1967-1990 for the Gahanna Jefferson School System, Goshen Lane Elementary. A member of the New Albany Lions Club. Taught Catechism at St. Paul Catholic Church in Westerville. Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence D. Baker; parents, Leo Alflen and Theresa and Carl Pontius. Survived by daughters, Maribeth (Gail) Jordan and Margie Lawson (Jimmy Baldrick); ex-sons-in-law, Drew Kost and Thomas Lawson; grandchildren, Phillip Kost (Alisha Homer), Carla Lawson, Patrick (Caroline) Lawson; step-granddaughters, Christine (John) Danflous, Nikki (Michael) Mckenzie, Lauren Baldrick; step-great-grandchildren, Jordan Danflous, Abbi Tuller and Dean Danflous. A special thank you to The Mitchell House of Westerville and Kindred Hospice for their loving care and kindness. Visitation will be held Friday, October 20th from 6-8 p.m. at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, where a service will be held Saturday, October 21st at 10:00 a.m. Interment Maplewood Cemetery; New Albany, Ohio.
