RAPENPORT
Marvin “Marv” Lee Rapenport died November 24, 2016 surrounded by the love of family and friends from complications of Multiple System Atrophy. Born December 25, 1955 in Marion, Ohio to Robert and Tillie (Cohen) Rapenport. Marvin was preceded in death by his father Robert Rapenport. Survived by his wife of 33 years, Cathy (Teal) Rapenport; his beloved son, Ryan Rapenport; mother, Tillie Rapenport; sisters, Marianne (Dan) Burkhart and Debbie (Gary) Goldstein; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill and Sara Teal; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews. Marvin graduated from Eastmoor High School, received an Associate Degree from Columbus State Institute in Emergency Technical Management and attended The Ohio State University. People and family mattered to Marv. He enjoyed serving his community in the Big Brothers of Columbus program, Shop with a Cop, as a volunteer with the Whitehall Fire Department, worked in many Columbus hospitals as a technician and a private duty officer at Mount Carmel East Hospital. Joining the Columbus Police Department in 1987, Marv proudly served Columbus for 25 years. Following his diagnosis of Multiple System Atrophy, Marv participated in fundraisers to benefit the MSA Research Lab at Western Michigan University and the MSA Coalition. Marv was a dedicated OSU football fan and enjoyed biking, hiking and fishing. Marv will always be remembered for his compassion for others, his wonderful sense of humor, and the way he smiled with his eyes. A Celebration of Life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 455 Clark State Road, Gahanna, OH Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 1 p.m., Pastor Doug Warburton, offciating, followed by a time of fellowship.
