Marjorie JoAnn (Price) Windle, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024.

JoAnn was born on July 10, 1931 in Worthington, Ohio, to her late parents, Mark Harry Price and Alma Ruth Starner Price. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Delores (Hugh) Buell, David (Ginger) Price, Jack Price, Lonnie Price. In January of this year, the love of her life and husband of 70 plus years, Richard Dick Lowell Windle, succumbed to cancer. JoAnn is survived by five loving children, Jim (Cathy), Kenny (Karen), Doug (Tara), Keith (Nanette), and Deeann (Keith) Bogle, 14 grandchildren, 6 grandchildrens spouses, and 15 great-grandchildren, with 2 more on the way! The extended family totals forty-seven, of which she and Dick were very proud! She is also survived by sisters-in-law Eula Gay Price and Diane Price, brother-in-law Robert (Ruth) Windle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

JoAnn was a lifetime resident of Central Ohio and graduated from Hilliards High School in 1950. As a freshman, she met Dick and was smitten. The Cheerleader and Football player continued their courtship and married on March 22, 1953.

JoAnn was a proud homemaker first, but also took care of herself through exercise, nurturing meaningful friendships and enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, canning, baking, sewing, dancing, swimming, painting, drawing, reading, making grapevine wreaths and trees, just to name a few. She was well read in the area of herbal and homeopathic remedies long before they regained popularity. She eagerly shared her knowledge with family and friends.

JoAnn always busied herself with things around the house and made sure her five kids had everything they needed, especially unconditional love. Not only was she a cheerleader in high school, but her kids biggest cheerleader, supporting and encouraging them in all that they did.

Mom would always have hot chocolate waiting for us after a long day of sledding, always enjoyed playing games of all kinds with us, and she couldnt resist doing donuts after a snowfall in vacant parking lots!

Mom loved music and dancing from an early age. Throughout high school, she and her brother Jack loved going out on weekends for some jitterbug! Music was always playing in our house, and she would often break out in dance! Mom and Dad attended big band dances and square dances throughout their entire marriage.

Mom was also the best hostess. You could come by their house unannounced, and she would quickly offer you pie, or bring out a plate of cookies, along with hot tea or coffee.

JoAnn was involved in the New Albany Garden Club, Quilters Group, Bowling league, an active member of the Inniswood Metropolitan Park and took part in numerous other volunteer works. JoAnn and Dick enjoyed supporting their children and grandchildren by attending numerous activities, such as football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, softball, lacrosse, swimming, marching band, track, drill team, show choir, cheerleading and school plays.

JoAnn and Dick enjoyed traveling, including a trip to the 1975 Rose Bowl, and Caribbean and Alaskan cruises. They were thrilled with a hot air balloon ride in celebration of their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. Other special vacations included Hawaii and several visits to Branson, Missouri. They also enjoyed traveling around Lake Michigan, Boston, the New England States, as well as New York City.

Special times that JoAnn always looked forward to were family gatherings on Walnut Street including Christmas celebrations, summer picnics and poolside family fun.

JoAnn and Dick attended Central College Presbyterian Church and in later years, the New Albany United Methodist Church. She and her children wish to thank the warm and kind staff at Danbury Senior Living Center. A special thanks to Maimouna Keita, Monica Amara, Ramona Tullos, Noi Daravongsouk as well as the Capital City Hospice staff including Nurse Amy Barton, Aide Emily Waugh, and Social Worker Penny Gillett, each of whom were truly devoted to her care. Our family is forever grateful.

Immediate family will be holding a private celebration of JoAnns life.

Please accept our deepest condolences. Your mom (and Dad) were so sweet and kind. When my mom was getting “confused” Joann was so patient with her. I’m sorry for your losses so close together. I guess they wanted to be together again. 🙏❤️
