Marian Selzer

SELZER

Marian (Bletz) Phillips Selzer passed away suddenly on August 20, 2015, with family by her side. Raised in Lynchburg, VA, Marian began her ballet career at a young age. She majored in dance and journalism at Marjorie Webster College. Moving to Cleveland, OH, after graduation, Marian was employed at WJW Channel 8 TV. Settling in Akron, OH, Marian raised a family and began a career teaching dance and serving as Promotions Director for the Ohio Ballet. Marian also served as President of the National Council of Jewish Women, Akron Chapter, and particpated in mission trips to Israel. Moving back to Lynchburg to care for her mother, Sally Bletz, Marian and her husband Terry Selzer founded Childrens Dance Theater. In later years, Marian and Terry moved to Westerville, OH. A generous, caring woman, Marian loved time spent laughing with family. She never let her age interfere with her active, energetic lifestyle! Marian is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Terry; son, David (Debby) Phillips of Westerville; daughter, Jacqueline Phillips (John Renner) of Akron; grandsons, Andrew and Matthew Phillips of Westerville; and brother, Dr. Donald Bletz of Boca Raton, FL. Marian was previously married to Walter Phillips (deceased). Visitation will be held Monday, August, 24th from 6-7 p.m. at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, OH 43081 with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m.
