Burial

Green Hill Cemetery

Lola A. Edwards, age 96 and 4 months old, passed on Monday, August 21st, 2023 after a long battle with dementia.

Our Mother held many jobs during her lifetime in and around Westerville and Columbus. A particularly special job in the 1960's was being Mrs. Santa Claus for a Newark mall, landing in a helicopter for all the children. She worked in many factorys during WWII till retirement, from hand grenade pin setting to airplane parts and telephone communications. She loved her garden more than any place else and grew all kinds of flowers and vegetables. She loved to preserve fruits and vegetables for winter pies and meals for her family. She enjoyed helping her children, grandchildren and others and especially striking up conversations. She never thought of herself as old and would let you know it and had a great sense of humor. She had a strong faith in God and knew Jesus loved her, sharing that song with her special caregivers till her last words. She was an extraordinary daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mom and grandma and a blessing to her friends.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, George Edwards, and her son, Tony Ciraky. Her parents, Paul and Mae (Ashbrook) Garrabrant and all of her 10 siblings.

She is survived by daughter, Deborah (David) Smith; son, Richard (Chris) Ciraky and daughter, Doris (Dan) MacKenzie. She had 9 grandchildren. Ryan Smith, Joseph (Tiffany) Smith, Angela Ciraky, Daniel (Stacey) Ciraky, Anthony (Betsy) Ciraky, Eric Ciraky, Evan Ciraky, Lauren Bogner and Kelsey Bogner.

She had 9 great grandchildren. Rileigh Barna, Madison Smith, Sofia, Evelyn, Logan Ciraky, and Otto, Emery, twins: Kodi and Karly Ciraky.

God has welcomed her into heaven where she is whole and no longer suffering and with those she loved and missed. We are blessed to have such a strong woman of perseverance as our Mother.

A graveside service will be held for the family on Monday, August 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Green Hill Cemetery in Johnstown, Ohio.

I have a very special place in my heart for Lola. When I knew no one in the greater Columbus area, Lola and George became friends. I am thankful for all the memories of working with Lola at her home on Mariemont and being able to take Lola and George to Marcella’s for dinner followed by a live jazz band performance. Lola loved moments of happiness and joyous memories. She will forever be in my heart!
