Lisa Ellen Carter (née Biederman), age 41, passed away on June 13, 2025, in Westerville, Ohio. Born on April 26, 1984, in Pueblo, Colorado, Lisa lived a life marked by devotion to love and her family.
She grew up in Colorado, Washington, and Pennsylvania. She was a loving mother and devoted wife. She married Phillip Carter on June 10th, 2005 in Columbus, Ohio, lived briefly in South Carolina, then settled in Westerville, Ohio. Through it all she found she loved sunshine and being close to her family the most.
Family was of central importance to Lisa. Her life blossomed fully in her devotion to her family. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Phillip Carter; their children Lydia Carter, Jacob Carter, and Emmeline Carter; her parents Howie and Ellen Biederman; her sister Laura Corrodi; and her brothers David Biederman, Joseph Biederman, and Samuel Biederman. She also found so much happiness in her nieces and nephews and was always looking for ways to spoil them.
Lisa enjoyed her years of marriage and personally expressed “these 20 years of marriage gave me more love than most folks would even get in 100 years.” She enjoyed tackling numerous house projects with him to create more places where they could just sit and talk together. If there was a window, some coffee, her dogs, and her husband, she was home.
Yet, she had even more. She was delighted every time she saw her kids. Her interest was unending in what they said and did and she never stopped finding ways to mother them, love them, guide them, and provide opportunities for them. Knowing that her life would end shortly, she spent countless hours writing letters and setting aside gifts for them far into the future. She never wanted to sacrifice her own kids’ happiness for her own and never had to because she was most content knowing they were taken care of. She was most at peace when all her kids were with her.
She attended Penn State University and Shippensburg University.
Lisa’s professional journey was one of both success and heartfelt purpose. Though she excelled in every role she undertook, she was truly in her element when she founded Apple Blossom Wovens, a baby wrap manufacturing company. Her fabric was gorgeous and unique, almost always selling out before release. It was also purchased in bulk for conversion by another premiere baby carrier company. Her fabric was even featured in Saks Fifth Avenue in Downtown New York. But more than the professional success was the meaningful connections she made with everyone she worked with.
When her professional efforts came to a close because of her cancer, her beautiful gardens, always a joy to her, received renewed attention. Climbing roses, Sweet William, Delphinium, Pincushion, Foxglove, Rock Cress, Lavender, and more all in cheerful bloom throughout the season reflected Lisa’s persistent joy and grace through even the most trying times of her life.
For Lisa, her faith led her in love to advocate for those who were overlooked or unheard, treating others greater than herself and ultimately into an eternity with a loving God.
Those who knew Lisa knew that she was a force of love and generosity that left everyone better for having known her. Her feelings were always clear and always rooted in genuine love.
Lisa Ellen Carter’s memory brings comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Service will be held on June 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 02:00 PM at Moreland Funeral Home 55 East Schrock Road. The Memorial to Lisa will begin at 11:00 with a service followed by visitation.

It's with a heavy heart that I mastered this courage to write. Honestly, I thought it was and is lie. I have come to know Lisa for almost 4 to 5 years now. Our kids met at school and became friends and as friends, the discussed so many things including how both mothers were suffering from cancer. Lisa didn't hesitate to reach out to me when her son told her about my own journey going through cancer. There and then , we became family. Lisa was so thoughtful, kind hearted and loving. We talked about treatments and encouraged each other about how we will pull through and witnessed our kids life journey. When I went into remission, Lisa was so happy for me while she was still going through treatments. I promised to stand by her in prayers so God will sure her mercy as He did me. This I can say, I did every single day till last Friday afternoon. I had hope and believe God will come through for her but guess God have other plans. I asked myself, why do good people die so early, and a voice inside of me said, well, maybe God doesn't want to their souls to be corrupted here on earth so He takes them away to heaven. On that fateful Friday, I was hoping against all hope that the news my son shared with us wasn't true. Lisa , for the past 3years drove our kids to camp Kasem even in her condition. That's how kind she was. When the kids got to know she wasn't driving them this year but my husband will be driving them, they sighed, " Oh no, it's going to be boring not fun as Ms Lisa" .That's how much my family have come to know and love Lisa, Philip and the kids. I can go on and on . My sister, as I always refer to her, has fought a good fight of faith. And as Christians, we take comfort in God's word that, the righteous though dead, will live again. So I believe Lisa lives on. She is only resting and we will meet again. I pray God comforts Philip her husband, Lydia, Jacob, Emma and the entire family. Rest well my sister.

I am one of Phillip's cousins but only got to meet and connect with Lisa a few times over the years because of how far away I live. Even still, I could tell right away what a beautiful soul she was. And the love between her and Phil was so striking and admirable. The world lost one of the truly great ones in Lisa but heaven gained a model angel. May we all be so blessed to live and love so fully with whatever time we have on Earth. My heartfelt condolences go out to Phillip, the kids, her extended family, and all who knew and loved Lisa and are grieving her loss.

I feel privileged to have known Lisa. She emanated the love of God to everyone she knew. She was absolutely one of the bravest people I know and inspired me! The dedication and love for Phil and her children was so very strong and unshakeable. Nothing could or will separate her from them just as God’s love is for all of who will receive it! I am so thankful for the Hope in Christ. We will see each other again.!

There is nothing better than having a happy marriage. Having true love in a faithful marriage is better than medicine. Your marriage was a shining example of love.

I remember your wedding - what a day that was. I also remember working with you on volunteer staff. What a joy to be with you and Phil both. In the mean time, what a day that will be, no tears, no sorrow. It was a joy to call you my sister in Christ.

Death is never easy, especially when you hear that one of the most amazing people you have ever met has gained their wings, but knowing Lisa rests with our Lord gives so much peace. Lisa was so sweet, genuine & loving. We always felt so comfortable with her, confiding in & seeking advice from her & Phil. Although our time together here was short, it was sweet & she’ll be forever remembered & loved. We send our deepest condolences to Phil, Lydia, Jacob, & Emme. I have never seen a more devoted wife and mother. Lisa was joy and life everywhere she walked. Her gentle nature seasoned with her indomitable spirit and love for life was a blessing I will cherish. I live in the hope that I will again see her laughing and playing basketball with friends or riding bikes to more places that I can even imaging. Rest well, sweet lady. Comfort and peace surround your family as they travel on as part of her legacy.

I won the jackpot in daughter in laws. All three are the best one could ask for. Lisa’s sweet heart and gentle spirit is sorely missed.
