Lindsey Emmett Smith Jr., age 84, passed away and went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2023. He was proud of being a veteran of the Air Force and serving in Vietnam. He retired from Metal Container Corporation. He was an avid card player and very active in the Westerville and Delaware Senoir Centers. He was always looking to have fun with his friends and family. He was a loving and devoted husband to Sharyl, father to Penny and dad to Shara, Sharry and Chuck.
Lindsey was known to many as "Bud" and will be forever missed. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Lahmon Smith; father, Lindsey Emmett Smith, Sr.; brother, James Wooten; sisters, Shirley Greer and Virginia Stauch. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharyl Smith; daughters, Penny Smith, Shara (Dr. Jeff Martello), Sharry (Greg) VanGundy and son, Chuck (Donna) Smith. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. His nieces and nephews, who called him "Uncle Bud", will forever miss his jokes and smart remarks playing cards. He had a personality that would light up a room.
A special thank you to his niece, Vicky (Pat) Tanler for their continuous support and always spending time with "Uncle Bud" playing cards, going to dinner, and many talks over coffee and donuts. We would like to give a special thank you to the Mount Carmel Hospice for their care, professionalism and promptness during this time.
Visiting hours be held at Moreland Funeral Home 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio 43081 Tuesday, December 12th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.. SHARYL, I am so sorry to hear of Lindsey’s passing. He taught me so much living next door to you. I can change the oil in the lawn mower and lots of other handy things he taught me. You were great neighbors.

So sorry to read of Buds passing. He was a great neighbor & kept an immaculate yard. Lots of memories with The Stauch & Tanler family as Tina & I were good friends for many years. Our parents worked together, played cards then later in life Roger & I bowled with Norm, Tina, Pat & Vicky. Wonderful memories made & cherished. Heartfelt sympathy to all of you.
