Ray McCurry, age 84, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away, surrounded by his family September 29, 2023.
Ray was a very loved man. He was successful in life, marriage, family, business and play.
What Ray loved most was spending time with his family, and they loved spending time with him. Ray and his beloved wife, June have four children Douglas (Tammy), of Vonore, TN, William (Kathy), of Springfield, MO, Kathleen (Kitty) Bensi (Jerry), of Westerville, OH, and Thomas (Tracy) of Lewis Center, OH. Ray is also survived by his seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, as well as his sister Teresa of Dallas TX. Ray was preceded in death by his sister Louise and brother David.
Ray loved to water ski, snow ski, play tennis, play pickleball, golf and ride motorcycles. He snow skied with his family and friends at many major resorts in the USA and water skied on many beautiful lakes
with them. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are carrying on his legacy. They are all avid skiers. Ray was still enjoying many of these sports this year. He taught his family how to play, but
even more importantly, to look up and see Gods glory in the majesty of the mountains and the sunshine touching the lake. Rocky Mountain High, Sunshine On My Shoulder, Take Me Home Country Road, these songs made up the soundtrack of our lives.
Ray was a graduate of Carrollton High School and Kent State University where he earned his MBA. Ray was a remarkable husband and father. He was married to his high school sweetheart; June and they enjoyed a loving and caring relationship for 64 years. He was a devout Christian and strong role model for his children and his grandchildren.
Ray worked at The Timken Company from 1959 until his retirement in 1992. Timken was a significant part of Ray's life. He also completed a four-year apprenticeship at Timken. Ray split his career between Canton and Columbus where he was Plant Manager and General Manager.
