LaVera Theresa "Teri" (Elwell) Gaede, age 72, of Westerville, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024 at her home. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 3, 1951 to the late Thomas and LaVera (Perron) Elwell, Teri was a loving mother and a substitute teacher for Westerville Schools. Survived by her children, Jessica Susan (Chris) Gullace and Jeremy David (Katie) Gaede; granddaughters Calla Mae and Reeve Lauren Gullace and grandson William Luke Gaede; brothers Tom (Vicky) Elwell, Mike (Donna) Elwell, Jim (Karen) Elwell, and Tim (Mariana) Elwell; brother-in- law Patrick (Colleen) LaVeck Sr.; sister Lynn Elwell; in-laws Marjorie (Tom) Sigsworth, Marilyn (Don) Bayer, Carolyn Sue (Samuel) Bauer; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and a few special lifelong friends. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, David John Gaede, Jr.; parents Thomas and LaVera Elwell, sister Colleen Elwell LaVeck, sister-in-law Patricia Gaede Birmingham, niece Taylor Marie Brown, and her dear grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Teri grew up in Lorain, Ohio, the first born of 7 children. She treasured her days at St. Joseph Grade School and went on to graduate from Lorain St. Mary's High School in 1969. She met her beloved husband Dave at Bowling Green State University, where she graduated in 1973 with a degree in Secondary Education. During their marriage they lived in North Ridgeville, OH and the Rochester, NY area, until settling in Westerville in 1990. Teri's first priority was always her children, and eventually her beloved grandchildren. In addition to her devotion to family, she enjoyed singing in the church choir and playing the piano, visiting family/vacationing in St. Petersburg, FL, the Carolinas, and Phoenix, AZ, playing Clue and Scrabble, and baking cookies to share with neighbors and family. Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Rd., Westerville, Friday 2-4 p.m. or 6-8 p.m. Service will be held at Central College Presbyterian Church, 975 S. Sunbury Rd., Westerville, Saturday at 10 a.m., Rev. David Redding officiating. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery followed by a reception at the church. I knew Teri since first grade when we met at the corner waiting for the school bus. I have many memories of her through the years. Recently, we exchanged news and pictures of our grandchildren through texting. I will miss her. ❤️
