THOMPSON
Lauretta E. Thompson, age 101, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2014 at St. Ann’s Hospital surrounded by family. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Jay Clifford Thompson and daughter, Ruth Klinger. Survived by daughters, Rose Morgan and Norma (Kirk) Westervelt; son, Patrick (Terri) Thompson; grandchildren, Michelle (Walt) Kaminski, Jacquelyn Klinger, Cindy Sprenz, Amy Klinger, Aaron (Erin) Thompson and Nathan (Angela) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Nicole and Joshua Kaminski, Andy, Martin (Katherine), Max (Amanda), Bryan, Nicholas, Hope and Emily Sprenz, Lauren and Brittany Parks, Connor, Nicholas, Emma and Christopher Thompson; great-great grandchildren, Marlie, Jeremiah and Charlotte Sprenz and Adrian Parks; several nieces and nephews. Laurie was a loving wife, wonderful mother, a strong Christian woman and a great cook. She had a very caring and special relationship with each of her family members. Throughout her life she made and kept many special friendships that she cherished. Laurie’s hands were always busy making snowflakes, angels and Christmas tree decorations, knitting special afghans, working word puzzles, making noodles with her Westerville Senior Center friends, baking Christmas cookies and cakes for family and friends. She loved ”peeps” candy, watching ice skating and Disney World. Laurie and Jay volunteered many hours at Lee County Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, Florida, St. Ann’s Hospital and the Westerville Senior Center. She served on the Westerville Senior Center Advisory Board, was honored with the City of Westerville VISION Award, the Esther McDermott Spirit Award for her outstanding volunteer service in 2006. Laurie was an active member of Church of the Messiah United Methodist. She was loved by many. We will miss her gentle smile and encouraging words. A celebration of her life will be held at Church of the Messiah U.M., 51 N. State Street, Westerville, Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 3 p.m., Rev. Jim Wilson, officiating. Family will receive friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Laurie’s name to Church of the Messiah U.M. mission fund, WARM (Westerville Area Resource Ministry, 150 Heatherdown Drive, Westerville, OH 43081 or the Westerville Senior Center, 310 W. Main Street, Westerville, OH 43081. Private interment will be held at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery in Clarksfield, Ohio. Arrangements by MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, Westerville, OH.
