2 p.m. Kenneth Ken F. Siegfried, 67, beloved husband, father and grandfather died on November 24, 2023, after a yearlong lung cancer journey. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Miriam Chait Siegfried, his daughter Rachel Siegfried Du (Jon) and his granddaughters Samara Ruth and Joanna Maelin Du, who he loved with all his heart. He is also survived by his sister Nancy (Roy) Bryant, sister-in-law Gloria Siegfried and niece Sara Siegfried. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Ruth Siegfried, his brother H. Steve Siegfried and his nephew David Bryant.

Ken grew up in Westerville, Ohio, where he graduated from Westerville High School in 1974. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University. Ken worked for 35 years as a structural engineer at SMBH (fka Lantz, Jones & Nebraska). Projects he was particularly proud of include the new Franklin County Courthouse and the tiara on Cincinnatis Great American Tower. As a personal project, he designed the installation of the World Trade Center steel at the Westerville Firefighters Memorial.

He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, planted hundreds of trees, loved to hike, camp, ski, garden, woodwork, listen to live music and drink beer with his lifelong Westerville friends. Ken loved annual fishing trips to Canada and family motorcycle vacations; notable motorcycle trips with his wife include the Lake Superior Circle Tour and the ride to Nova Scotia. He cherished trips to Portland, Oregon to visit his daughter, son-in-law and beloved granddaughters.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 30th at 2:00pm at Temple Beth Shalom, 5089 Johnstown Rd., New Albany, Ohio. Services will also be live-streamed at https://www.tbsohio.org/livestream.html

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation https://www.arborday.org/ or the National Parks Foundation https://give.nationalparks.org/ in his memory.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Shelley Blackburn for years of compassionate and thoughtful care and to Dr. David Carbone of the James Cancer Center for giving us hope and trying to find a cure for his disease.
